1990 5.7 ECM computer and Intake questions..

Hi,
I have a 1990 camaro 350 TPI.
It was a 305 and the block and bottomend was changed.
The top half of the motor (intake) and the ECM computer are from the original 305. I was wondering if the computer from a 305 and a 350 are the same, and if the whole intake system is the same, thanks!

Intakes are the same. Computers are different. I don't know the specifics of each but I'm sure someone else will chime in.

the intakes are the same from 305 to 350

Also the computers are the same, both use a 730 computer in 1990 to 1992...you should swap about the eprom though to a 350 unit.

oops edit...the 305 intake has 19# injectors the 350 has 22 or 24#s

Hate to tell you this, but, if you still have the stock tpi intake you wont be anywhere near 300 RWHP, closer to about 230 with the mods you say. The TPI is very restrictive when it comes to making HP, but you will have loads of torque

you have a few options.

you can siamese your intake and add a set of SLP runners...that will produce a small gain over your stock setup. But this is cheapest.

Buy a new TPI intake along with the SLP or other LTR runners...A little better hp gain. Cost about $700 for the intake and runners.

Or go with either a modded LT1 intake or Holley Stealth Ram, those two are by far the cheapest route to see the biggest gains. Will run you around 500 for everything, you use your throttle body and injectors.

Then you have the Superram and minirams which also will produce HP, but you might have to sell a kidney to afford if your on a budget like most of use. But you do use your TB and injectors also.

Go to Jegs or Summit Racing and they have some Ford SVO injectors. They are the same injector except that it is cheaper. In order to optimize your car, you will need better intakes, headers and a custom eprom. Not to mention a TC if you change the camshaft.
