Heading out to the local track to see if I can get a 12 finally...
Think it's possible? Here's the rundown. Place bets with others if you want..hehe
100 shot out of the hole got me a 13.30 @ 105 1.84 60 foot
150 shot out of the hole got me a 13.15 @ 107 2.30 60 foot
Mods since then: Mismatched TQ Converter/Pro Built 700R4/Skinnies up front.
150 shot out of the hole now gets me a 13.40 @ 100 2.3 60 foot
The TQ Converter is KILLING my MPH since it was made for a 396 nitrous car and It was running no lockup(flashes past TQ peak entirely
)
Mods since then: 28X11.5X15 ET Streets/Manual lockup switch. The switch seems to be AWESOME once locked. Not sure if it's safe or anything but it pulls the engine back down into thwe powerband somewhat. These tires should hook on an ice rink also and good thing becuase our track here SUCKS. Wish me luck!!

Oh and for you kids out there...The lesson here is to NOT BUY YOUR BUDDIES VIGILANTE CONVERTER JUST BECAUSE IT'S A GOOD DEAL. Get one made for your specific application. Sticking with the stock piece would have had me WELL into the 12's already.
Remedy? Build engine AROUND the converter

Ah come on man! I am running a Yank built for my Freinds 396
Worse yet I am building the next motor around a Intake off an IROC

You're hurting your 60' times with those 28" tires, borrow some 26" tires and see how much of an improvement you gain on 60'. I also would put the stock converter back in.......

Yor mph is definitely 12's material, but your 60' is killing you. Try getting a pair of LCA relocator brakets like from BMR, and maybe an adjustable torque arm set at 2*NEG pinion angle. This will do the trick!!
The tires did the trick
Reloaction brackets still not installed but traction wasn't a problem and I have not seen wheelhop with these stiff shocks and Spohn parts.
These 28" tires measure out at 27.3, you think they're really killing my 60 foot with the 3.73's I have and the 3.06 first gear? I think they may be helping somewhat. First gear with 26" tires seems to flash by faster than I think it should.
Personal Bests in ALL measurments..Look for the new post.

The taller tires definetly hurt your 60' Taller tires reduce your 3:73 ratio to (as an example - the taller tire may have reduced your rear ratio to 3.50), there is a formula for figuring out the reduction by tire size and axle ratio. Smaller ratio equals less force off the line. Like i said, if you could borrow some 26" tall tires just for a few launches you could see if the difference is worth it.
