Picked up a set of General Tire G Max's for fall and winter driving. Reviews are very positive. I'm hopeful these will give me the traction I need for mid-west weather. They do great in dry and wet weather. Not as strong as Pirelli's in the corners but just fine for my driving style. I'll let you know how the snow goes.

St. Louis only had snow on the ground for like 2 days last winter, and one was when MODOT got caught with there pants down at rush hour. Roads were clean by lunch.

Here is a good chart to compare performance of summer v. all season v. winter tires and the temperatures they perform best at. Usually a summer tire's performance significantly drops off below 45 degrees farenheit.
