Says the 0-60 mph is about 6.3 seconds and "as fast as the previous 2002 Z28/SS powerplant"

I want to know what they are smoking, considering my 2000 Z28 w/ 90K does 0-60 mph in low 5 and my 1/4 is 13.32@109 mph, that's "almost" as fast as the new SS

 

well it's good marketing. they do want to actually sell cars this time

4th gens and new camaros are very close in performance figures, the LS3/6 speed might be a tiny bit faster.

 

They are comparing apples to oranges with that one

 

It's close to the LT1 times anyway.

 

I think the offering for the new Camaros is pretty impressive. Now I can't decide on whether to get and LS1, LT1, or a 5th gen... Decisions decisions.

 

It should be, the LT1 technology is almost 2 decades old...but even so, I had a 95 Z28 that did a 13.9 bone stock so I don't really think you can qualify that as close. Cause it's over a half a second better

 

I would imagine a good driver in a 5th gen is going to be able to repeatedly nail 12 second timeslips, even in bad weather. I know 4th gens have hit 12s stock, but it is really rare, and nature being on the side of the driver is usually important. I guess it all depends on how well the new car launches on the IRS, but I am still figuring consistent 12s.

I am waiting on the v6 numbers. I don't really know what to expect with those. I could seeing it be a tough race for an LT1, but then again I dunno. On paper it seems like a good match up. The v6 will probably be more difficult to grab good numbers consistently though, being that it won't have as strong of a low end torque curve to help lend a forgiving hand to driver error. Then again, the real world could be different entirely.

If you are running low 13s, your 0-60 time has to be in the 4s, not 5s. At least if you are stock, and not flying through the traps at some high *** speed. I know the magazines say otherwise, but the magazines continually unimpress me with crappy driver/questionable numbers.
