I test drove a 2SS with the manual trans yesterday. This was my first time driving a new camaro, and although I liked it overall, I was really a bit disappointed by the power. It was fast, but it never threw me into the seat or pulled the way I expected right after a gear shift. The 06 Corvette that I drove last year was the same way, and I've heard that it's got a lot to do with torque management... with the drive by wire, it just won't apply full throttle under certain conditions. Is this likely what I was feeling with the camaro? Does disabling the traction control have an effect on this, or is it always there? Can it be tuned out of the ECM? If it can be, is the ECM tune detectable by GM (warranty concerns)?

Sorry for the likely stupid questions, but I'm just trying to understand why it felt the way it did, and if it's something that's easy enough to rectify. I liked the car, but the power just didn't impress me the way I'd hoped.

 

It is not the torque management systrem it is just an over weight car...subtract 450-500 pounds and it will feel much faster. I have driven over 30 of the 2010 SS Camaros and they all feel exactly as you described...they have too much pork to really haul azz ... that is the problem. It is 13.0 - 12.95 car which is the same numbers that the 4th gen cars turned when stock...I am still waiting for this car to impress me with something ...... maybe the Z28 if it ever gets built will do so.

Yes its the TM and you can do things with tuning to get this reduced to basically nothing which helps the pulling of the car
