WOW! why is everyone so hateful on modding a 5th gen? If i want to throw a s/c on my camaro with less than 3k on it, then im gonna do it. and who said that it was going to be the fastest car around? putting a s/c on your car doesnt make it the fastest car. it makes it quicker but not the fastest. and as far as breaking things, any mods to a car should be expected to have the good times and the bad times. believe me, if someone is modding a car, they probably can afford to fix it if things go wrong.
im changing alot of things on my car as soon as i get it. not only a s/c but wheels, tires, suspension components, hood, spoiler, brakes. give the guy tips if hes wanting to s/c his car. dont tell him not to do it. because in the end he will do what he wants to.

If you're looking at the spec sheet, the cars have several similarities (LS engine, RWD, IRS, based on an Australian car, etc etc). In reality, though, they are entirely different. I would be surprised if there is more than a couple parts in common, and those would be inconsequential internal engine components (for example, I think that the oil pump is the same from the LS2 in your GTO to the LS3 in the Camaro).

But I'd prefer to put the charger on after the warranty expires, to avoid any potential warranty issues down the road, if this were my car. But I can't wait to read about the numbers put down by new camaros with forced induction.

my ls1 trans am had 15k on the motor before i put a s/c on it and i had about 45 on it when i sold the car. i had no problems whatsoever. i had it tuned at livernoise motorsports in michigan and they did an amazing job.i was putting down 420 to the wheels. im expecting about 500 to the wheels on a s/c 5th gen. with no other mods. id like to get to 525-550 rwhp.

In any event my post was more in reference to a very broad and silly notion that sub 14 second cars aren't fast. That for some reason "fast" is a moving target that needs to be redefined with every new model that comes out.

The Magnusson kits work pretty well and are nicely designed. Since they make one for the GTO & the G8 GT, they will probably be your best bet since they are very similar to the 2010 SS. I was pretty amazed at how similar the underhood area is between the cars. I put one on my 05GTO and did it myself. It was relatively easy. Took about 2 days of taking my time. Ignore the haters. I plan on doing something similar, just waiting for the initial rush to calm down before I order my SS. I may go w/an APS turbo kit this time. The newer generation screw type maggies are greatly improved for street use. It made the car a very driveable street monster. Torque everywhere. Ended up putting drag radials on full time to increase my survivability.

To some people, like myself, a 13 second quarter mile is pretty slow.
I'm used to riding a sport bike, and am used to being the fastest thing on the road at any given time, a 13 second quarter mile just doesn't do it. To me, buying a brand new Camaro for $30, 000, and being able to only do a 13 second quarter mile, well...just sucks.
To the guy that wants to do this though, I don't know about supercharging just yet, wait a while and learn from people's mistakes.
On the other hand, to satisfy yourself for now, there are some pretty sweet cam kits out there, that have made some pretty impressive results with the ls3 engine. You can get that power NA pretty easily if you got a little money.
I can totally understand where you are coming from with wanting to supercharge it though

for 30k and running 13 with the camaro, thats a hell of a deal. especially with everything it comes with. anything faster is going to be in the mid 40+ range( corvette,gt500,z06,gtr(70+)) im gonna be one of those guys who does the s/c and you can all learn from my benefits.

I would see what GM is going to offer in the next year as far as Superchargers. If they have any in the works, they should come within the next year or so. What kind of HP do you think would be comin out of a Supercharged SS?

I think that we can look at the LSA (556hp) and LS9 (638hp) for those answers. Those engines are little more than an LS3 plus a supercharger/intercooler and some upgrades to handle the power.
