Check engine light? Finicky fuel cap?

Yesterday right after refueling, the "check engine light" came on. Just having had my car out of the shop at Christmas for hitting a deer, it got a really strong "AW, come ON!" reaction. I'd tightened the fuel cap to "one" click, as it says, but got out and tightened it two more. I knew that if that was the problem, the emission sensors would need many miles driven to reset. The check engine light went off, early this afternoon, after driving perhaps 20-30 miles on miscellaneous errands.

A finicky fuel cap is pretty standard behavior on our '02 Avalanche with 154,000 miles, but on a car with 4000 miles? I've got the 2SS with a stick. All the gauges look normal, and there are no alerts in the vehicle information.

Has anyone else seen the "fiddle the fuel cap to turn off the engine light" behavior on a new Camaro? Or, should I lose a day+ putting it in the shop so they can pull the codes?

Hmmm...I think the design of the fuel cap (one click) is different from the previous GM cars (keep turning clockwise, keep clicking as long as you want) to avoid this. My first though is to take it in.

Sorry, brother. Bad luck with this car so far it seems...but I know you still love it! Don't worry, it will get all squared away.
