Cai?

So of all that have replaced the stock air induction system with a new CAI, what is considered in your opinions to be the best CAI? RC2, Hennesey etc...

BOth that I have installed and tuned, both gave 0 without the tune.. after the tune..both gave 7whp.

One of them is the ADM Performance.

If you install a CAI and interested in a tune let me know.

i did airaid. it was cheap and a nice kit. when buying a cold air intake, the straiter the flow the better. the colder the air the better.

Pick the one that has the best quality filter, looks good, and is the price you want. That method of selection will provide more enjoyment than pulling your hair out to find which one has 1/10 of a HP increase in a +/- 2% throttle window at a cost of $100 more.

In fact, I would simply ignore HP numbers completely. That can be calculated a number of different ways and some are hilariously high.

an intake is an intake. their all good for around the same exact numbers. and trust me, your not going to notice if one gets 1-3 hp better than the one thats $100 less.

So does it really make a difference whether you install a metal tube versus a poly/rubber tube on a CAI? Is there a real HP/performance difference that's noticeable? Thanks

only difference really might be that the plastic tube removes heat from itself quicker than a metal tube.
as far as what involved in a tune, you wont need one done for just the intake. it would be a waste of money ifyou plan on doing more upgrades. they go into the computer of the car and change things. depends on what is done to the car.

If I am thinking about thermal conductivity correctly the metal tube should pick up heat faster, and shed it faster than a plastic tube with lower conductivity. This should especially be true in a thin wall/ high surface application such a a CAI.

the metal will also pick up heat from the motor from the outside. i think this is why most aftermarket intakes are plastic. that and injection molding is cheaper.

Yeah I'll admit it.

I chose moroso because it was cheaper then the others. The kit installed fine and actually weighs half a pound (8oz) less then the stock system with the 2 fender baffles.

Re: Cai?

I just picked up a Roto-fab. Fit and finish is nice, I swear the butt dyno tells me that it was a good choice.
