Do you guys know if the DiabloSport Predator Tuner - U7194 is something a novice (me) can configure and tune on my own or do I need a performance shop to do it? I am hearing conflicting stories. Some say it is a piece of cake, some say it is dangerous.

With anything, it depends on who you ask but I don't believe them to be dangerous since many people use their stuff. Check out Supporting Vendors here, and see which one carries Diablo and speak with their sales department.
