Zl1pricing
Re: Zl1pricing
60 days? I am pretty sure it will be longer than that, especially since production is not supposed to start until Jan/Feb of '12. I just hope that the price comes in at or around the GT500, which is around $49K which is pretty much loaded. The ZL1 I predicted will be loaded with auto transmission for around $52K.
Re: Zl1pricing
But there are quite a few options in that "base" price of the GT500. From what we know of the ZL1 so far, it will pretty much be loaded from the base with only a few options. If you compare the GT500 base and what it comes with and what the ZL1 will most likely come with in its base (again, from what we know so far), then I think it will be close to that price, maybe closer to $50K, but either way we should expect it aropund that price. I could be way off, I am just using logic and the information that we know as of right now in regards to the ZL1.
Re: Zl1pricing
I thought they said the only options on the ZL1 were color, auto/manual and if you wanted the alcantra trim, and everything else would be standard? At the very least if you want to compare the two, I think you'd have to add the SVT performance pack suspension.
Of course the problem is, we're comparing two cars that will never be on the market at the same time. By the time the ZL1 is here the 2013 Mustang should be here (or very nearly). That's making both companies play everything very close to the chest until the last minute. Which makes guessing pricing dodgy at best.

Re: Zl1pricing
Those are pretty much the only options that we know of right now. I know I heard rumors of the sunroof possibly being an option, as well as polished wheels. Either way I am really thinking around $50K, but like I said before I could be way off but I think if I am that is silly on GMs' part!
Ford has already leaked the 2013 Shelby will be a whole new snake will more power, I would expect it to go up over 50k.
Re: Zl1pricing
A GT-500 with the suspension package is aroun 54k, add Nav and your at 56k. The ZL1 will have all the GT-500 offers and then on top of that the two mode exhaust thats over 1k option for the Corvette. The magnetic suspension cant be cheap either. It also has a lot of other things like an engine oil cooler, trans cooler and diff cooler. If it comes in under $56,995 I would be surprised.

Re: Zl1pricing
IF GM prices this car at $57K then there will be a lot of ZL1's sitting on dealers lots only a few months after launch (Yes I know there are only supposed to be 5,000 produced/year). I for one will not consider one for that price. I would rather wait for the C7 Corvette and get one with at least a handful of options for that price!
It always confuses my why a person would cross shop a 3000lb C7 and a 4000lb Camaro. If i didn't have kids I wouldn't even look at a Camaro/Mustang, but thats me.
GM will sell every ZL1 they build and if they only build 5,000 the first year if they are anything like when the SS came out or the GT-500 they will go for 5 - 10k over sticker the first year.
The Vette has and is going upscale as well, i would assume that the C7 will cost more as well.
I hope I am wrong but if they price it equal to the current loaded 2012 GT-500 it will be over 50k.
Re: Zl1pricing
First of all, the C7 will be 3,000 lbs?
Second, they won't likely make 5,000 ZL1s.
Third, the ZL1 is not for the everyday person, and Chevrolet knows this. It isn't designed for everyone, and it won't be priced for everyone.
Fourth, they will sell every single one of them, markup or not.

The ZL1 is going to be a heck of a machine, I only wish things would have worked out differently with our economy and it would have been a choice when I bought my car.
