I suspect the base ZL1 will be around $50k with the loaded version going for around $54k. That's comparable to the GT500 when you factor in a slight increase in pricing for 2012 over 2011 for the Ford.

Re: ZL1 SAE RATED @ 580 hp

Ok, I have a slight gripe here, so watch out...there will be a quick complaint ahead.

I am getting really annoyed with Chevrolet talking about cars such as the ZL1 and Z06 being "track ready", or like this quote from the Dept. 180 video about the "24 hour test"
something we would expect the customer to take to the track on a weekend event.
What they dont tell you is that if you do take it to a track, despite them expecting it, you can kiss your warranty goodbye when something goes boom.

I am glad this car is being built, and that the power is huge...not to mention the technology that is being integrated in this. This is something Camaro enthusiasts have been wanting for a LONG time. I just dont want people to be caught off guard when using what this car is designed to be, at its full potential.

I agree. I think base will be around $50K. I am guessing that "base" will be pretty much loaded with only a few options like the information that is already available states.

Yes, this is how they did it with the coupe AND convertible... pricing hits about the time the first one rolls off the end of the line.

Actually, on the Corvette I have heard them say "tracking" will not void the warranty...but ONLY on the Corvette. My guess is, that refers to them not holding the "black box" data against you should you suffer a failure of some sort.....

Re: ZL1 SAE RATED @ 580 hp

comes with a 5 year 100 k mile warranty and produces 580hp...for around 50 grand..

This is truly the performance numbers from supercars not that many years ago that cost in excess of a quarter of a million bucks..!!!

GM truly has outdone itself here..

The Camaro SS is awesome...the V6 model is cool...but this 580hp beast is pure insanity!

GM is on a tear! Thanks for the info!

(edit) nobody's ever going to know you took the car to the track so just clean it up before you go in for service) If you keep the car stock...this new ZL1 monster will go to the track a million times and it won't even be breathing hard as GM testing in Research and development is world class...The car will probably never have a problem in my opinion because you ran down the strip or on a road course... especially if you are halfway intelligent and treat the car with any degree of respect..) JMO I wouldn't announce to the dealer if you go in for service etc...GM just wants the owners to enjoy their new products and with 580 hp who wouldn't!!!! (sorry for the rant)

This cars a beast!!!!!!!!!

JB

Unfortunately there are some Z06 owners on Corvette forum that would say otherwise. Granted, the engine failures reported there are a VERY small percentage of Z06's produced.

I am excited to start seeing these monsters on the road and hope I get a chance to drive one. That torque....

This is one of those cars that is affordable enough to make me want to blow my savings, but expensive enough to make it a tricky enough to validate .

$50k feels like a bargain for that car. I mean, it's basically a CTS-V with less luxury. I have a feeling it may be a $55k+ car. Let's hope I'm wrong

Yeah but the ZL1 is not going to compared/cross shopped to the CTS-V. The GT-500 is the target, which is $49K base. $55K IMO is too high for that car and could hurt GM with this car. $55K is almost $25K higher than a base SS, now that is ridiculous, especially with the C7 due out a year after the ZL1arrival!
