Not impossible but very unlikely..

People say spring of 2008 as a 2009.. I'd say thats more believeable.

I guess we just have to wait and see what comes out of the bosses mouth Thursday?

Unless it's going to go to Wilmington, I'll come out and say that a Camaro coming out next year as a 2008 is an impossibility.

Kinda hazy on my details so correct me if I'm wrong...

Wilmington still has excess capacity of more than 100,000 units that need to be filled...

and...

Oshawa won't be available to build the Camaro for a 2008 MY release...

so...

If GM does announce the Camaro being available for 2008 it will be built in Wilmington.

My money is still on Wilmington for initial production.

That's where I'd put my $5.00. Oshawa's production is definitely spoken for thru the '08 MY... and then there's the time needed to morph Oshawa #1 and Oshawa #2 into the single flex plant as per the Beacon Project. I have also heard whispers of the Camaro's [B]initial[B] production happening in Wilmington, and then moving to Oshawa.

Why move it to Oshawa? Unless there are other plans for wilmington or it would be less expensive to make in Canada, why move it?

08 will be a long enough wait.

I don't know how much sense it makes, but if GM is looking to fast track production of the 5th Gen and they're far enough ahead in the planning/development to get it into the showrooms by MY '08, then I don't know if they have any other choice but to begin production in Wilmington.
I don't have a clue as to the economic viability or what else might be involved in transferring production of the car to Oshawa, once that plant gets rolling as a flex plant, especially if the other Zeta chassis cars will be built in Oshawa.
I believe Oshawa has capacity for approx. 500,000 units per year and the other Zeta cars, including the RWD Impala might take up most of that.
The other whisper (obviously to be taken with a grain of salt at this point) is that Wilmington might get the 2 door Zeta cars (Camaro & GTO) and Oshawa the 4 door Zetas.
I suppose this will all begin to unfold very shortly!

Best regardSS,

Elie
