I am definitely holding out, and getting every option in the second year!

GM should do something about this as well. Dealers can kill the sales of the car like this. Remember when the GTO first came out with $5000 markups over sticker!? Or in the final years of the f-body, dealers were doing the same thing with them, which probably hurt sales.
Once it comes out, we should post where we are getting good deals on our 2007`s-2008`s to the benefit of everyone here. And create a "blacklist" of dealers that are charging premiums.

Obviously it is flawed. Of course people WANT a 500hp Camaro. Its one thing to go on a poll that doesnt cost you any money and say you want the big dog. Its all Monopoly money online. Its a little different when you have to break out that hard earned cash. Especially for some if you expect to eat this month. Cough me cough. Like I said I would love an LS2 Z28

Honestly, I'm not even thinking about buying a 5th gen Camaro UNLESS it comes with something very lethal.

427 Camaro or nothing.

Sorry I missed the sarcasm. It seems like some are optioning real cars as if this were grand tourismo, or need for speed. While I have no doubt people will buy it, I dont have the cash to insure it even if I could afford it.

I agree.

Me? It's gonna be one hell of a tough sell on the wife. The rugrat will be just about old enough to say goodbye to the car seat about the time the 5th gen would/should/could come out - only problem is, she wants another.

500hp? Nope. Not even gonna bother. I want a vert and I'm not holding my breath for an LS7 in one.

I can't agree more, I am the black sheep of the 4th gen crowd.

Re: Who's Holding Out for the BIG Boy?

I hope everybody isnt holding out, no sales, no car. I would buy IF they offer a great pwr plant at first. I wont give in to the dealers greed though! I am concerned w/ the first year bugs. Also, I dont want to be like the 04 GTO guys who got to see the "new" motor the very next year!! So, I'm confused on what to do. I would love to mod my 200? except, what everybody is forgetting, WARRENTY!

Re: Who's Holding Out for the BIG Boy?

I really hope the SS or whatever version of the LS7 has the convertible as an option. I REALLY want to get the ultimate version, a convertible 500 hp stickshift monster. Why? My current Z-28 is a vert, which I love, and because the Z06 guys don't have an option for a convertible.

BTW I already have it on good faith from the wife that as long as we have no more kids and I fix up and sell my 97 and can get a nice down payment (like say 10 grand) then she's cool with it.

Re: Who's Holding Out for the BIG Boy?

For me, it depends on what the other cars using that engine platform do. GM has a history of putting the Corvette's motor into their other cars a year later. It happened with the LT1, LT4, LS1, LS6 and LS2. It'll happen again. If GM puts a new motor into the Corvette the same year that the new Camaro comes out, I'll wait, because I know it'll wind up in the Camaro the next year. If they are still using the same motor in the Corvette the year that the Camaro comes out, then I'll likely buy one.
