Who applies stripes and door decals? Factory or Dealers.
Who applies stripes and door decals? Factory or Dealers.
I'm waiting on a pace car that's due any time. The dealer sais he thought they'd have to put the decals on before the car is ready, but I thought I read somewhere that these cars came with the decals already on. He even suggested that they did the hood stripes on Camaros. Is this guy just a dope or are dealers doing the decals. I'm sure I've seen new Camaros on transporters with hood stripes on them.
Thanks,

Re: Who applies stripes and door decals? Factory or Dealers.
It was changed in 2009 that all the stripe packages were factory installed. That was for the Rally Stripes and the hood stripes.
It is possible that the Pace car is different, and that the door decals are still dealer applied.
You know who might be best to answer that question would be Camaroscotty.

we install them off-site - that includes all of our stripe packages as RPOs - plus the Indy Decals..........

"official"....I love that word.....I especially love the "official" badge when I see it on dozens and dozens of cars lined up at the factory.....tell me ...which one is the "official" one.....I would feel like a bit of a clown driving around in one of those....sorry if you own one...just my thoughts....these "sticker editions" as I call them are more telling about the driver...certainly not the car....to me...a Camaro SS in Black, Silver, Red, whatever with nice wheels and interior and NO "stickers" is way cooler than any sticker edition poseur cars....
Re: Who applies stripes and door decals? Factory or Dealers.
The car is the official pace car. Just like official sports equipment (eg. footballs, baseballs). No matter how many they make, it is still the official equipment.
Re: Who applies stripes and door decals? Factory or Dealers.
all I am saying is that "official" means nothing.....its officially more expensive...that is about it...if GM would make these special editions a bit more "special" with real performance goodies and limited options....they would have something...official..and special. IMHO.

In this case, the body is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Camaro convertible is serving as the pace car under the approval and authorization of that body. No other car can claim to be the pace car for the 2011 Indianapolis 500, so the Chevrolet Camaro is the "Official" pace car. In fact, any Camaro - even without the Pace Car package would still be the "Official Pace Car" as it is the Camaro that has been selected, not the package.
So, whether that adds value or meaning is up to debate, but semantically, the Camaro is "official."
Like he said.
