When is the SS out?

Recently I've read on a few brand x boards that only the V6 model would be available at first. I had figured these people didn't know what they were talking about, but I just got done talking to a Chevy dealer who says no SS until the summer. Please tell me that's wrong!

OK...keep in mind this:

1: Most on other types of boards don't follow the car like people on this type (specifically Camaro) board do.

2: I would venture to say that 80% of the people on this board know more about the car than 80% of the salespeople out there.

I talked to one of the local Chevy dealers here a few weeks ago and the guy swore that the cars were going to sell for over 50k and you wouldn't be able to get one without buying the car up front for about a year unless you knew someone. Needless to say, I won't be buying mine from them. On the other hand...I went to the GMC dealer across the street to look at colors and those guys knew what was going on. Other than trying to stuff me in a Challenger or G8GT, they were extremely helpful even though they knew I wouldn't be buying anything from them. They did say that really hoped the car did well so they might be able to get a Firebird sometime in the future.

Anyway..point is, take magazines and boards with a grain of salt and unless you find a salesman that is an enthusiast themselves, I wouldn't believe half of what they tell you.

I work for a dealer and have followed from the beginning we know about as much as you. (nothing) in reality they have not released anything to us price, availability, or what will be available 1st. My lease is up this coming June so I have to have one by then and am only interested in the SS but everything at this point from anybody is speculation.

The buyers for this vehicle at first are going to be us the enthusiast so I don't think GM would put out a V6 and no V8 when maybe only 5% of enthusiast would want the V6 model.
