only a 5k markup? they did 5 k mark up on the ss. you know they will mark it up atleast 10k. unless you know the dealer. my price was without a markup up, MSRP.

I'm thinking that once the Z/28 comes out, GM may actually lower the price of the SS. As you may remember, they actually admitted they overpriced it on purpose. I don't see it dropping a lot, perhaps it just won't increase as much (as the LTs) by 2012. That said, I see the base Z/28 coming in around $45k MSRP and loaded to the hilt, just under $52k MSRP. I do however suspect the first ones will get a substantial dealer markup. If it ends up being a low production number model, I could easily see up to a $20k "market adjustment" by some dealers, pushing some buyers to pay over $70k if they "must have it!"

Its a hot car they can name their price on, and they need cash. Seems like a good idea to me.

I was thinking that maybe as demand dies down the price will drop on the SS and the Z28 will come in at that range or close to it

Not to me. I agree with him on that one and Ive actually posted the same for years. IMO, a ZL1 badge you can get away with that. Have a no holds bar car where price is not an issue and low production numbers is not a flaw? Thats what ZL1 was. Its an Icon. If it doesnt make it to the next model year put it on hiatus and noone will strangle you.

Z28 is a badge that means Road handler but in contrast to the ZL1 has to make it out the other end. It cant fail due to overpricing.

Then again... If the GT500 is at 50k maybe its not unreasonable. If not then there definately needs to be an badged "SS 1LE" with SS drive train, maybe slightly better with Z28 Suspension, ALA Corvette Grand Sport....

lets remember tha ls9 alone is about 10k + more than the ls3, as far as being able to purchase the motors. not to mention there will probably be some stiffer suspension and different tires. plus any cosmetic changes that will be added in.

Z28 isn't getting the LS9 it's getting the LSA which is much cheaper than the LS9.

Actually if you look at current crate engine pricing, the LSA is roughly $5k - $6k more than the LS3 and the LS9 is roughly $8k - $9k more than the LSA. Thus making the LS9 $13k - $15k more than the LS3.

The Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, Challenger etc. all those cars are recognizable names. They all have recognizable trims ZR1, Z06, SS, GT, GT500, R/T, SRT8 etc.

Point is no one knows what a ZL1 is, aside from a few enthusiasts. The Z28 name is well known. There is no money for 2 models. So learn to live with it.

sorry, i meant the lsa not ls9. lsa motors are about 14k compared to the 6k ls3. i would imagine the z28 will be around the gt500, but less than, to get the edge. not to mention its going to blow its doors off!

Thats pretty cool. I thought that was LS8. Did this change? What is the difference? What else is the car getting?

I believe the LS8 is a marine application.
