If we get a fully operational concept, what would be under the hood? What would you like to see under the hood, something radical or something production based.

I am thinking 6.0L LS2 with more than current production horsepower, maybe 450 - 475 hp.

Production based, but have better sound, via headers/exhaust. So they can rev it at the show and get people running over to see what it is. :)

I'd like to see a TT LS7 ;) This of course, should then be implemented as the standard base engine for the 5th. gen :lol:

It would be nice to see one of GM's more production reality Supercharged LS2's sitting under the hood . :) A blown chevy accompaning fords blown shelby cobra would have more of a cool factor imo . Plus , a LS7 type engine is never ever gonna happen in Camaro . Cost wise this time around , I think the only way Chevy is gonna compete at the higher end of the ponycar wars is with one of those supercharged LS based engines theyve been toying with .

An LS7 since it will pretty much be a concept, tubular stainless headers and exhaust.

Another vote for LS7, since it looks like Corvette will get the LS9. Although, it does look like the SS is going to get that. Meh. What do I know.

If it was my choice, a turbo LS2 putting out at least 1000hp/1000tq. Hopefully something cool is under the hood.

GM usually likes to show future engines in concepts so I'm going to go with this.......

the LS9 6.3 V8 (It's probally going to be a 6.2 or 6.4) but.....It will have DOD and get 26mpg highway and pack 440hp........First use of this engine would be in a Corvette.........

If I'm guessing right anyway a wink could be given if I am close :D :D :cool:

My bet is on an LS7 being under the hood. Concepts are made to draw attention, they aren't going to stick another run of the mill LS2 under there. I could see maybe the blown 6.2, but I still think the LS7 will be under there.

Engine not a concern.....it'll be badass what ever one they choose to put in there.
From an enthusiast view, hopefully room and lots of it, also a PCM that will support large amounts of HP.

Getting sick of these cramped engine compartments and PCM's that can't compensate for boost from the factory.

So all those over there at GM, yes we mod the crap out our cars, let us have some room to do it, both in the engine and in the PCM!!!!!

I'm totally with ya on the engine bay , god I miss my third gens :) But I respectfully dissagree an the PCM's . Both the LT1 and the LSx pcms are capable , an both have achieved supporting well over 700 hp at the wheels , with fuel cut-off's at 7K rpm for the LT1 and 8K for LS1 . Alot of the boosted guys are switching to a 3 bar map and running in speed density mode .

What I'm hoping will be under the hood? 100% of the engine. Not 75% of the engine under the hood, and the other 25% under the cowl panel.

Methinks this may be wishful thinking.

This makes me wonder something else though: thinking in terms of "if it goes retro," I'm curious to see how they execute the cab forward design while keeping things in proportion to the 67-69 model, and have it still look "correct."

Easy , they wont :) Take a peek in a CTS , STS , or GTO engine bay to get , not a picture of , but a general feeling for how the engine bay will look .

"Cab foward" is not a GM design practice.it was a Chrysler theme that has since been abandoned.

Yep on the underlined part. Remember what engine was in the SS sedan concept? A 6.0L V8 that made 430hp. Does anybody think the LS2 might be underrated by about 30hp? :D

Compare it to an LS6... .3 liters more displacement, same compression, and you get the SAME hp? hmmmmmmmmmmm ;) .

If we are talking concept 1 off engines. How about a dual cam in block V8 ala XV8 displacing 6.5 liters supercharged pushing 700-800 hp with a 6 speed auto with fully manual shifting?

I heard the whole plan might get scrapped also.. :( My friends uncle who works at the GM Tech Center told him this. Then their might be a possibility the project might be sent to Australia to the same people who designed the GTO body.:rolleyes: That would not be good. I do not think their is an actual concept made yet.
