What Mustang guys think of the Camaro...
Dude, enough BS, these guys have not come on the board and been jerks. So they like Mustangs. No sweat here. If it weren't for the Mustang, there would be no Camaro. I see the same BS on the Challenger boards. Seems people are more interested in proving how big their package is by slamming the other makers cars. Got news for ya, as much as I like the new Camaro, the GT500 is quite capable of dusting a SS stock for stock (at least in a straight line). And dollar for dollar, the GT500 is far easier to make sick fast.
To trickstang and bossco, cool info guys, thanks!

Wouldn't have anything to do with 90 to 120 extra HP would it?
I didn't see at any point the Cobra really handling the corners any better than your car in the vid. The terminator only really pulled ahead on the straights - no big surprise.
The terminator being a better road car is again utter bull****. The IRS in the terminator is nothing more than a sales gimmick - the SN95/New Edge cars only really prove that fat tires do indeed make a car stick to the road. The myth about terminators out handling the S-197 (more specifically the GT500) was borne out of a.) jealous terminator owners who suddenly found themselves to be the old dogs in the kennel and b.) pissed off terminator owners who thought that they would be waltzing into a Ford dealer and for a coupla thousand more upgrading into a GT500.
I'm telling you 2K, pick your fights with a terminator and all that S/C'd muscle wont really do it any good if there isn't enough straight road to use it. The only edge the car has in suspension is another 40mm of rubber per tire on the road which is diminshed by an archaic front suspension and a hobbled rear suspension. Your GT trounces the dynamics of the Terminator in just about every area - better F/R weight distribution, better center of gravity, uses its tires better, stiffer chassis, ect, ect, ect.

the IRS isn't bad at all once all the rubber bushings are out tho (replaced with delrin), and it is very strong (and 31 spline), they've just been known to grenade because of those damn stock bushings (wheelhop).
The Shelby GT500 with 500hp, the Shelby GT500KR with 540hp, the Shelby Super Snakes at 625 and 700hp. No knives there. Ford has sold over 500,000 current generation Mustangs, so its safe to say the consumers have acepted them, and now, in response to GMs Camaro, Ford ups the GT power with a 5.0 liter, 400hp engine to compete straight up with Camaro and Challenger.
I'm talking about the bread and butter cars that populate the roads of America. The Mustang GT and the Camaro. The Camaro has been kicking sand in the face of the Mustang GT for years. Even 7 years after the Camaro was killed off, the 2002 Camaro SS or Z28 will kick sand in the face of the Mustang GT from 2002-present. I'm talking stock for stock here. That's bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Camaro may be faster than the 2011 Stang...but who really cares? At the end of the day, OEMs are in the business of selling cars, and the Mustang has always and will always trump the fbods in sales...the Mustang has consistently outsold the Camaro for as long as I can remember. Back in 2002 when the camaro was selling in the 40k range, the mustang was almost 150k...the stang almost consistently sells in the 150-200k a year range while the camaro will never eclipse 100k
And ford doesnt need an answer for the vette, theyll leave that one to the Nissan GT-R
I think you guys will all be in for a nice wake up call when the base camaro comes out with a 27k sticker price and the SS at over 36k, while a slightly slower mustang, with better exterior looks, wayy nicer interior than current, and lighter stang comes out at under 30k fully loaded

Oh sure when you count the high dollar, specialty breeds. Hardly what I was talking about. What average Joe can afford any of those Mustangs?

dont be mad that out of Fords complete lineup, the Mustang is the only one they do correct and dominates vs. its competitor.
