So, how much do you think the 5th gen will weigh?

Just how much do you think the 5th gen (base V8 M6, mfr official curb weight) is going to weigh?

I can't for a moment believe it will weigh more than or even as much as the G8, which is a 4-door, 5-passenger sedan.

I'm hoping for just under 3800-lbs.

Just going to throw in the curb weights of some other relevant cars:

2002 Z28: 3431
2008 Mustang GT: 3480
2006 GTO: 3725
2008 Shelby GT500: 3920
2008 G8 GT: 3995
2008 Challenger SRT8: 4140

My official guess is 3650-3699, or a bit lighter than an '06 GTO.

The G8's that have been tested have come in at 4100. and most of the new mustangs that i've seen have come in at about 3550. I think the F5 would be LUCKY to weigh as much as a GTO.

BTW, my friends 99 T/A 6spd TTop car came in at 3590 but he does have a couple of suspension goods (subframe connectors, strut tower brace etc.) that might add a couple pounds, but nothing crazy.

The as-tested weights include some option packages. Leather, sunroof, stuff like that. They'll always be higher than curb weights, but curb weights are really the only thing we can compare reliably. Since the poll asks for curb weight, I posted curb weights of the other cars too.

It seems like a well-optioned car is generally going to weigh about 100lbs over the listed curb weight.

My '02 Z28 M6 (leather, power everything, Monsoon, t-tops) weighed in at 3546 with a 1/4 tank of gas and with me in the driver's seat. I weighed about 140 at the time. That's 3406 without me. This was the track scale at Mid Michigan Motorplex -- I have no idea if it's accurate.

Color me a ****, but only 120 lbs shy of the overly-bloated GT500 doesn't exactly pump my nads.

My uninformed guess remains 3800-3850.

But the Camaro won't feel as bloated because it has IRS.

LOL. Ya ok. And how will the unsprung weight of the IRS help acceleration - and I could be considered an "acceleration ****" too, so kindly keep my biases in mind.

Wait, do you ask what do I "think" it will weigh, or what do I "hope" it will weigh???

Add ~100 lbs to my answer for actual vs. hopeful ..... ~3700 - 3750 actual, vs. ~3600 - 3650 "hopeful" .

If you're worried about acceleration over handling, then stick a bag of cement in the trunk. (Ya, its old school, but it worked back in the day. )
