Doe's anyone know if the 5th gens are in fact going to use composite body panels like they did on the fourth gens, or is it just speculation at this point?

It would be nice to have dent resistant panels again!

To add to that, SSRich's comment was not regarding the 4th gens, so my original statement still stands. He said "what are mostly all new vehicles made of?? fiber glass"

The 4th gen certainly does not meet that criteria....

fromt what it looks like, the camaro will come in as a pig like mustang...

In the end we will have a bumblebee after all... a camaro exterior on a GTO like body weighing in at 3800lbs... That means the new camaro with 430HP will go down the 1/4 at 13.x at 10x mph.

Which means.. you will get spanked all day long by base 400HP c6s and you are going to be in the same league as mustangs. Its embarrasing to see that a 500HP mustang CANT beat a 400hp vette at the same price...

In the end.. the 550hp version will run a tad faster than the base vette.. will cost as much as the base vette (or more) and its still a camaro...

I see NO reason whatsoever to buy a camaro over a vette unless the camaro's price for the 430hp version is in the $2x,000 rang, which will not.

In the end.. lets put it this way....

Buy a brand new piggy camaro for the sake of a fun car or buy a used vette for the sake of hot rodding??? i'd go with the vette any day.

One more thing......... I don't see the solstice weighing 3300lbs or 3500lbs... I think the one from hot rod with the ls7 manged to weigh in 2880 lbs (granted they removed a lot of things). The point is... why not make the car a tad smaller?

Come on dude...you can be a little more optimistic. You are on a Camaro board. Sure if I have $25K more to spend and didn't want a back seat for my son, I'd buy a 'vette too.

Hey, a thread back from the dead!!

^ ^ Highlander, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today??? Why all the doom & gloom???? Heck, dude ... it's the 4th of July ... be happy!!! And save your judgements about the 5th-gen until the car is actually built ... THEN we'll decide whether it's truly a "pig" or not .

IMO it's a matter of what style appeals to someone.

I find the 5th Gen much more attractive than the Corvette... I'm not after 'hot rodding', I'm after a good looking fun vehicle.

Actually... I am into the GM beating the crap out of anything else than anything else. Hence my extreme mods on my camaro. So it pisses me off when something this excellent can be wasted. Most of the "in the know" people have argued about the size of the car.

Although I love my car, it suffered from many things... Things that I might not mind for the sake of the car, but other people do. If the car plummets it gets pulled off production like it did in 02 and people like us, the enthusiasts have no Camaro.

In essence the enthusiasts are a minority and are maintained by the majority. I know its a business and it should act as much.

We've been told all along Camaro will be price competetive vs Mustang.
