"USA 1" Is it time again?

With the New Camaro coming is this the car that could or should lead a return to a new "USA 1" moto for Chevy.

There was a time all new Chevys and Performance Chevys had that gold and white or Red, White and Blue USA 1 plate on the front.

Also for little added cost how about Orange paint on the blocks for the new V8's.

Lets face it the new engines do not leak oil anymore and it would give the engine a little more identity and color to the engine campartment.

Just for fun the Pontiacs could do blue for the G8.

I know they are just some wild ideas but it is at the least not toy related at a slow news time.

Lets just have some fun debate on some trim ideas other than SS, Z28, RS and the like.

It is the little details that count.

Can we get shoe buffers too?

I would love to open the hood of any new car, and see a crap load of plastic coverings and stuff that have little point. Painted engien blocks would be a very nice touch, but economics is a little harsh.

Um, please inform me why the G8's would be blue? Is that a Holden thing or just Pontiac?

Yes the Pontiac's were blue and over the years two different colors.

The cost of painting the blocks should not be too much in cost as they arleady paint them black now. Color should not add too much.

And if you think todays enignes don't leak like they did. You shoul not almost all old SBC had front oil leaks and all Pontiac V8 had rear main leaks. No one complained as that just is what they did.

Too many here have only seen the restored older cars and forget or never saw the orange and black blocks of the 60's.

You had to also love the breather on the oil fill tub in the intake that blew oil everywhere so many used.

With all the accessories on most modern engines, can you even see enough of the engine block for the color to matter?

If you could see the motor it would be ok, but you cant on most cars, I know on my lt1 I cant see enough of the block to care.

If I remember correctly the USA 1 slogan was used to publicize the fact that the Chevrolet had become the #1 volome brand in the USA on an annual basis. I don't think that's the case these days...But if and when they can get there again for a year or two I think its could be useful to build momentum.

I would definitely not want my engine painted orange. I've never liked that.

Ive seen LT1s painted up, and as mentioned before, its actually not that nice, since you can see so little of it, it distracts the eye more than anything else.

I don't care what color my motor is. I only care how well it performs. Oh, and not leaking oil all over the driveway like my Corvette does would be great too.

I think that is a great idea.

I've already got my 'USA 1' license plate reserved. I'm just waiting to transfer it to the new Camaro.
