I saw a new Audi S8 on the road yesterday with LED fog lights that are also DRL's. The 2007 S6 also has them. So, apparently they are legal for lights on the front of a vehicle, and even if they are currently not legal for actual head lights, my guess is they soon will be with advances in technology.
Back on topic, I can't wait to see this movie!
