Today is February 16th...

So today is February 16th, the 1st day of the original production date. Since then we have heard that production was delayed until March 16th, but then a post was made before from Patman, our fellow memember that drove the SS the other day and gave us those cool pics and review, that stated someone from another site was told that his car was being built today! I was wondering if maybe Scott or Jason, etc. could chime in here and give us some information if production did actually start today for customer orders. I e-mailed my dealer today to find out my order status and I am waiting for his reply.

I was just thinking about this. Preproduction runs have indeed been happening, probably since early January and that is what Patman more than likely drove, but how confident are we that the person who said their car will be built today is aware of the delay shifting SORP from February to March? Not to question the source, but still wondering.

My friend who brought that 2010 SS that I drove yesterday was telling me they'd be in showrooms by mid March though, so I'm confused.

It seems to me that they are building cars now so they can have cars ready to be sold on March 16.

man that would be nice if things started speeding up and were back on track. i wonder if they would start production earlier than march 16 or if they would still hold out for it if things were going good? and if they did start early, would they tell us?

They wouldn't tell us if they did so as a way of saying thank you for preordering...or at least I don't think they would. Much better to let a whole enthusiast community be pleasently surprised together when the announcement comes that all OUR cars are built and being shipped before the delayed date (or near it?). Of course this is all speculation, so please don't send suburbans after me...

Most likely customer orders have not started yet, seems kind of weird that they would announce a 1 month delay and then all of sudden be on track for the original production date. It could happen, but I would think that these cars that are going down the line are just first run non-customer ordered production cars. Either way, March 16th is only 4 weeks away!...BTW, I checked with my dealer this morning, my order is still at 1100, he said no changes to the status yet. Don't really know if that means anything to production startup or not, but just figured I would find out from him for myself.

Even if production did actually start today for orders, mid-March might be a stretch, especially since most of those initial orders will probably be held for sometime after they are finished for Q/A. Probably more like end of March if that were true...Let the fun and speculation begin as our cars are getting closer to being built and in our hands

Yes it is the status # of where the order is in the process. 1100 is the first step, basically is has been input into the GM system. Some people here stated that their orders were at status 3000, which means that it has been accepted for production.

...And the excitement builds... I remember on a podcast a couple months ago that someone (maybe Cheryl) said that the date is day they pick. Production may start before the actual date that is deemed the production start date. Can't remember which podcast that was, but....the excitement is building!!!!

More importantly, today is the deadline for GM to submit their survival plan to Congress.

I received this toady from Chevy we can be behind the wheel in 30 days. How is that possible if production doesn't start until 30 days? Is it possible they are producing the base LT's now; the ones the dealers are getting for the showroom?

"All New Camaro 30 days and counting."

"Counting down the days until you can get behind the wheel of your very own all new Camaro? You're in fast company. Less than one month remains to preorder one at introductory prices.1 Be one of the first to own a true 21st-century sports car.

Which one will you choose? It's available in a V6 with 304 hp and an estimated 27 MPG highway2 or in an SS, which generates 426 hp and goes from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds.

To preorder, download a spec sheet and then go to a local dealer to place your order. Be sure to hold your place in line before March 15, 2009."
