Thanks a lot GM, now I can't enjoy the C5 I wanted
Thanks a lot GM. Ever since the new Camaro concept debuted, it's been making me reconsider selling my car for a C5...
However, now that i'm hearing that the Camaro will have multiple engine options, and with these 500HP rumors being muttered, it has single handedly caused me to scrap any plans for a C5. Now i'm just going to keep my SS until the new Camaro is available to buy. lol
500HP Camaro, i'll be all over that. With any luck, i'll be able to keep both Camaros in the garage at that time.
I'll be waiting.

I know what you mean dude, I have money in hand that I wanted to buy a C5 Z06 with but now I'm torn. I have a feeling GM will do with the Z28 what they did with the Z06 and just make a track/streetfighter champion and seperate it further from the base V8 model. 500hp in a car that tough looking is hard to resist.

Still haven't bonded with the C6 yet. Corvette used to be a unique platform, until the C6, which is shared by the Cadillac XLR. There's no doubt about C6 performance though. They win hands down. Still just can't get into the looks of the C6...it has never quite looked dimensionally correct to me.
The C5 from any angle looks stellar to me, whereas the C6 looks wrong from several angles. Furthermore, its not clearly Corvette in style - looks very Viperish.

I would really like a C6ish looking dash, but it'll probably be retro looking -- which isn't too bad, as long as it's not over the top like the concept was.
HIDs would be nice as an option, but it's not a big deal.
Weight? Don't care. (Well, as long as it's not a 4,000+lbs whale)
IRS? Don't care.
B-pillar? Don't care.
T-tops? Don't care, I never really use them in my current car anyways.

Well, I just finally got my Vette on Saturday, and I'll be grinning hungrily at every Mustang I pass between now and fall of '08 when the HI-PO Camaro finally comes out. Plus, Vettes hold their value quite well, and with the steal I got on his thing, I'll have a nice trade to put down when the time comes.

And don't get me wrong, I still grin as well, every time I start the C5 up, hearing the the nice cam lope go through the long tubes and Borlas.
This may not make sense, but I see the Camaro as more family friendly then the Vette. Since its only a two seater, we always drive the Camry. But with a back seat, I'll be able to toss every one into the Camaro and take off.

Basically, when it comes to a decision of a low milage C5, and a new GTO, it gets kinda tough.. I know they are two differnet cars.. but as RWD V8 coupes, that would be a tough choice..
I've decided I'll wait for the next Camaro and see.. my 99 Z28 still has plenty of bite left..

got my '01 with 30k miles for $21,000, if that helps. Of course, there were some extenuating circumstances ( I sold it to myself, basically, it was a bank turn in), but it CAN happen.
