Test drove a Black 1LT @ Jimmy Johnson Chevrolet in San Diego CA

As the title suggests, just got back from a test drive.

Pretty awesome car. I'm still 100% firm on getting an SS, but it was still a ****in rad experience.

Car was a basic black 1LT automatic. Didn't have much time to mess around with the tapshift. I got to punch it on the freeway though. Doesn't accelerate like my TBSS, but it definitely gets up and goes!

Seats were comfortable. visibility wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'm 5'11 and sat in the car very comfortably. The telescoping steering wheel made a big difference. The mirrors helped out considerably with visibility.

Although, I did note that on a particularly tight highway off-ramp, the rear view mirror makes a terrible blind spot. You have to duck down in order to see behind it.

Definitely got a ton of looks from stupified drivers! It was fun!

ride and pricing

Todd;
could not read the price on the LT that you drove. Thanks for the pics.
Are they marking up the price or selling at MSRP. I am interested in a SS loaded. Did they give an idea as to order time or when they will be getting more.
Bottomline, did you like the car and the drive?
Thanks

John,

Yea, sorry about that. I tried to enlarge the photo so that you could read the print. Could not figure it out though.

The price on the window sticker is: $27,945.00

The salesman I spoke with, Brandon, told me that Jimmy Johnson was NOT marking up their Camaro's. He specifically said that they were one of the few dealerships that were not doing markups.

They did not have any idea when any more Camaros were coming in. He did take my number and promised to give me a call when more came in. I too asked for a 2SS/RS. Brandon said that they were taking orders. He did say that their pre-sold orders were full and already accounted for.

As far as the ride goes. The car is just straight up awesome. I really can't think of any other way to describe it. I called up my girlfriend after the ride and left a message on her phone. I swear I probably sounded like a 12 year old girl at a hanna montana concert. The trim level of the car wasn't exactly what I would buy in a car, but for the trim level, it was nice. The fit and finish were excellent.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hey Todd,

Was the ride smooth and was it quiet especially when on the freeway?

Yea, that is something that I thought was kind of amazing actually. I was expecting there to be considerable tire/road noise. But amazingly, the cabin was completely devoid of any noise really. I was expecting the V6 to be louder, and it was, but not as loud as I was expecting.

The freeway ride was nice and smooth. We went over some potholes on the streets and you could barely feel them.
