Re: T-Tops out of place?

I could compromise with a sunroof more for my needs.

I do alot of 10min trips so I usually just put the windows down, it's not worth taking the T tops off/on/off/on to me all the time.

I dont see T tops fitting into the lines of the new roof, the old one was much smaller roof IMO.

I can see a convertable version though!

I had alot of leaks over the years with my 98, I doubt I'd buy them again if they dont look like they are fixed.

Re: T-Tops out of place?

I really don't see GM just sticking the last T-top design on this car. What could work is something that's flush mounted. Once installed it looks like it belongs on a car in the same way a sunroof forms to the outer surface.

I'm all for a targa, but heaven knows how you'd store the thing.

Re: T-Tops out of place?

The way the trunk looks like it's cut out to me, I don't think you'd get a targa top in the trunk too well (surely the exact workings of the trunk are open to change, but it looks to me like the trunk is cut to angle in toward the rear of the window, leaving the top of the quarters to jut in pretty far on the trunk opening. Which would make putting a full length roof panel in kinda difficult I'd imagine).

I don't even see T-tops in the trunk, the system to store them would take up alot of space when not in use I'd think. I don't know, I'm clearly not a designer...

And if they built T-tops along the lines that are on the roof now, with the wide divider it would have I think it would look downright stupid when they're off... I really like those lines/bulges on the roof, but I figure they'll get smoothed over for a production model anyway, so that's probably not much of a barrier to t-tops... Of course they made production on the Vette...

Re: T-Tops out of place?

Hey,my first camaro I owned had T-tops, it was a 92 red with white racing stripes it was nice.Afterward I loved nothing but t-tops my camaro I own now is a vert, so for me a 5th gen without t-tops or a drop-top is no go.So I hope they do come up with something for those cats like me who like to fell the wind on their face.

I really can't fathom why so many people post t-tops suck, but a targa is good. They are vitually the same thing. If they can fit t-tops on the 5th gen, than more than likley will. T-tops were ordered on far too many f-bodies for GM to have completely turned their noses up to the idea. A targa would be fine as well.

Probably because with the targa you have a big ole chunk of what looks like the normal roof there until you remove it. I mean you'd have a couple lines where the panels meet and such but it looks like a solid roof for the most part, no T bar and no glass/plastic T-tops to throw the looks of the car off or require removal of "features" like the roof creases/buldges, etc. I'm not saying T-tops suck and Targas rule though, I personally would be even less likely to take the targa off frequently due to the increased hassle in removing a bigass piece of the roof, especially by yourself...

Re: T-Tops out of place?

First off the 05-06 Mustand doesnt have 1/4 windows and only the 69 did in its history.

Ill tell you exactly how to make T-Tops.

That side window is split in two. The door window and and rear 1/4 window. Run a line from the back of the door window to the other side rear door window then T-Tops forward to the windshield, not including the 1/4 window so that the 1/4 window is always covered by the roof even with theT-Tops out. The stamping in the roof might be a good indication of the center bar. It would look mean with the rear Quarter windows down too. It would give the car more of a hot rod look than its ever had. I think the T-Top cars are reinforced like the convertable.

T-Tops are cumbersome though and take up space. I would perfer a moon roof but I wanted to play devils advocate as Im a bandit fan and I know they are part of the history and would make it look cool. there you go...

Boo big time on sunroof. I doubt there'd ever be a car that I'd buy if it had sunroof as an option. I've done a ton of five minute trips where I totally thought it was worth the time of taking the T tops off/on/off/on. Oh & I've never had a leak . . . only thing that's ever held back my urge to take the t-tops off is my dying window motor.

Re: T-Tops out of place?

I love T-tops and that would be a big blow to the car to not have them. I could make due witth a targa though, as long as it can still be stored in the car. If it can't then there is no point. I don't really care for sunroofs in a sports car. That is just added weight and cost for little gain. Sunroof, is no good, leave that to the sedans.

Re: T-Tops out of place?

As soon as I saw the leaked images of the silver car I posted that t-tops would not look good on it.

I kinda hope they don't offer them, because I don't see it looking too flattering on the car. I never thought I'd say this, but give me a hardtop car.
