Scott????? Did this happen while you were in the hospital?????
Actually as far as the rap/hip-hop genre goes that video is tame by comparison to some of the more popular ones.
I actually enjoyed it. Some cool cars, except for those mid 70s boats with the ridiculous sized rims on them. I see those everyday in Oaktown and for the life of me I can't figure out why the suspensions don't break.

Im with these 2 Californians... even though I am one of those "rednecks" Guy refers too. I've matured out of rap (sorry rap fans, there's a reason the age breakdown is like 2-1 teens versus 25-40 y/o) but I still know who all of those guys are.
Besides, what else can you ride clean in BESIDES a Chevy!?
For sure not one of those junky fords...

Everyone needs to calm down, I think it's great for GM. T.I. is not a group, he is one of the most popular rappers out right now so it says a lot for the concept to be in the video. You see so many bmw's and other european cars in videos it's about time musicians and celebrities have gm cars. Besides if people were worried about the camaro not selling because it is for mullet wearing rednecks, having the car in rap videos completely helps take that image away. I'm all for it and the younger crowd will love it. This guy is not a nobody rapper he's really popular. GOOD MOVE GM!!!
On a complete side note, is there any such thing as originality in rap anymore? It's gotten as boring as rock did in the early 90's (I hate my life, everything sucks, blah blah)........
I mean seriously, how many different ways can you tell people you make money, get girls and drive high-priced cars with big wheels?

As a general lurker who visits here often just to get news on the 5th gen, this thread is worth a response.
Being someone who is about as WASP as they come and living in Oklahoma, I can honestly say that I do find that video to be offensive in some ways (the overt stereotyped portrayals of certain people shows a complete lack of respect IMHO). That being said, it doesn't bother me one bit that the new Camaro is in this video. If I was involved with the decision making at GM, I would have likely been against this particular placement, but that's my personal take and I don't expect everyone to make the same decisions I do. I still plan to buy one as soon as I can get the one I want.
I will say that I think this placement does more good for positioning the Camaro with a specific population segment than having Lee Iacocca riding around in a golf cart with Snoop Dogg chatting about Chrysler's new line up. I'd rather see GM allow the 5th gen to be in a rap video with foul language than to have them offend my intelligence with something as inane as that DCX commercial was.
I'll go crawl back into my hole now, just felt the need to chime in on this particular subject.

I wonder if people on Escalade message boards get angry if there is one in a country music video?
While I am not a fan of Mr. Jeezy, or whomever else was in the video, I think it important that the Camaro furure survival that it appeal to more than just it's "traditional" buyers. Impala SS's have been in plenty of rap video's, yet they are not frowned upon.

I see they didn't let any of those girls with a buffer near the concept...that's a good thing. I don't know about you guys, but I like seeing the concept get as much air time as possible through any outlet possible. I wonder how many videos and commercials were made with the 4th gens in it? Maybe with a little more publicity, that generation would have had a little higher sales. But hey, as long as they don't jack it up and throw some 28's under it, I don't care what video the concept is in.
