question about new Z28...
If it happens at all first of all. Perhaps this isnt the right area for this question but figured it seemed the best place to post it on the site.
"If" the Z28 does happen, why would people think it would be more umph! to it and a higher price than the current SS? Maybe my memory serves me wrong, or just too young to remember that far back but I always thought the SS was the top of the line. If the z28 comes why would they go at it backwards? whereas the z28 is more car than the SS?
Well like i said, maybe its a dumb question but figured it wouldnt hurt to ask.

I'd go do a search on the subject.
It's similar to the elders in the Underworld series. They take turns being the top dog every once and awhile.
(I'm a nerd who makes weird analogies, it's my quirk)
Also Consider this. In 2000 the Chevy Impala came out in two trims, Impala and the Impala LS. The LS was the top of the line model of that year. Since about 2006 on the LS has been the very bottom of the line model for chevy in general.

First, it's a dead horse, as in, you are beating a dead horse on this issue.
IMO, as I had heard, the would have the Z28 the top of the line, because the Z28 only belongs to the Camaro (I think it stood for the engine option back in the day when they first came out). The have turned everything into and SS, that it is not as special to make it the top of the line for this new Camaro. But, none of this really matters if they are never going to make it!

Yes....as you may have figured out this subject has not only been beaten to death, but has been pulverized to a soup that gould be soaked up with a sponge.
But I feel there is a way to answer your question without opening the gates of you-know-what and wind up with another 20 page thread.
I came here from the Mustang community about 10 years ago. I used to go to plenty of Mustang gatherings, and there were always Mach 1s, Boss Mustangs, and a whole host of other special edition Mustangs.
One of the things that stand out in the Camaro community that never really came up in the Mustang community is long drawn out heated discussions (arguments is more accurate) about what is the top car, SS or Z28. Those types of heated debates never happened in Mustang circles. I can't recall ever hearing anyone having an issue as to if one model is "over" another. Everyone simply is there to celebrate the Mustang, and the various versions of it Ford made. The closest things ever get is when the question of what was the quicker of a particular year.
Although I have facts as to what the history of the SS and Z28 is (and it's been posted also many times by our resident 2 legged Camaro encyclepedia, the Brand Manager himself), my point is this....
Who gives a damn?
The traditional Camaro SS and Z28 had different roles in the Camaro lineup.
The 2003 Mach 1, the 2003 Cobra, and the 2003 Bullitt all had different roles in the Mustang line up that year. If you go to a Mustang gathering (I did at the time) and you start taliking about one model being above the other, you're libel to get hit in the head with the closest handy object, because that's disrespectful. The fact is everyone is there for the Mustang.
Instead of wondering what model is above what, we should be thanking our lucky stars if we even get 2 performance Camaros to choose from.
Worrying what model is over what is just plain retarded.
