Post NAIAS show thoughts

NAIAS has wrapped. I write this after getting home to my home in Florida. I left a chilly Detroit early this morning and exited the plane in Tampa to balmy, and bordering on warm, weather.

Although we are in the midst of a confused economic future, Chevrolet unloaded both barrels in Detroit at NAIAS.

What is most of interest here would be the reception for the 2SS we had for folks to get in. It is a first.

I can only say that when there was a crowd in the "haus", there was a formidable line of folks formed to try out the Camaro's driver's seat.

I am very proud of the vehicles we have now, will have very soon, and will have in the near future, which we offered up for the press and public to see.

It was a huge pleasure to see some of the forum faithful who made it out for the early viewing on the first day of the public show. Cheryl Piltcher, Camaro Marketing Manager, made a point to be on hand for Q & A and meet and greet for the premier Camaro site's crew that made their way to Cobo Center.

The few days I have at home will allow me to rest up a bit, and in minutes I am off to ship a part I designed for Corvette drivers who use their cars for track day events which should make the 'vette even more driveable.

The piece is going to be executed in carbon fiber and the race shop that is going to execute the piece loves the idea. It's a fun deal.

If you missed NAIAS, shame on ya.

I'm off to Philly next.

Let's just say that I'm gently pressing the issue in a couple of places...

AFAIK, "multiple". As for colors? It's supposed to be a surprise.

If a "grained" interior car is sent, it will be on the floor and open to sit in.

Be there and find out. Bring a camera...

Do you know by chance if there will any Camaros at the Raleigh, NC sow next week, and if so what exactly will be there and how many? If there are some there, especially one to sit in, then I might make the 3 1/2 hour trip up there. Thanks.

Grained refers to texturing on the interior surfaces. The interior graining can take a few forms, such as leather look, satin, etc. Graining is a great contributer to durability.

AFAIK, the graining on the SS on the floor in Detroit was not the final texture. Nonetheless, it allowed folks to get in and experience the feel and ergonomics of the car's interior environment.

I so hope the Camaro in DC has a grained interior for us to sit in. We had no Camaro at all last year at the DC show.

Thanks, but I saw that already. I was really wondering if anybody knew what cars and how many would be there. If there is only 1 V6, I will probably pass, since it is a 3 1/2 - 4 hour drive for me.
