Post-announcement Q&A with Fbodfather...
Re: Post-announcement Q&A with Fbodfather...
Q. Are any details on powertrains firmed up yet? Can we expect an LS3 "SS"?
A. Yes, Details are firmed up. No, I can't talk about 'em. (well-- I could, but there'd be a fleet of Black Suburbans in my driveway tonight......)
Man I can't wait till they announce that!

You know, call me crazy but I have a feeling that it'll probably be Oshawa. It may satisfy the CAW and there's some things about capacity that keep springing up in my mind. Then again, it could be because I'm biased towards the maple leaf.

Interesting post - thanks for sharing, Chris.
With all due respect, I'll continue with the "I won't buy it if its a pig routine", because that is one of the major deciding factors for what *I* will depart with my money on. Doesn't matter what brand. And it might mean I don't buy ANY of the new cars.
Bottom line - if the new Camaro fits my definition of "pig", then GM won't get my money. Of course, my definition of "pig" is likely different than most....and Lord knows Chrysler will probably sell plenty of its "pig" when it hits the streets.
And contrary to some, I'm not "anti-Camaro".
but let me make something crystal clear to everyone: Stop with the "I won't buy the car if it's a pig" routine. You need to understand that weight is an auto manufacturer's nightmare and natural enemy. Ever hear of CAFE? (Corp. Average Fuel Economy?) We have strict standards that we must meet as a manufacturer. Weight is an enemy of fuel economy. With gasoline going higher and higher, it becomes even more important that we are weight conscious. Now, that said, the Camaro has to be affordable, which rules out exotic materials-- so we are very very very aware that people want a light and nimble car. SO DO WE!!! It could be said that some are 'preaching to the choir!"

But for the rest of us (I'd go so far as to say, the MAJORITY of the carbuying public, including modern muscle car fans)... well, we want our 5-star crashworthiness, A/C, power windows and locks, ABS, you know, stuff like that.

Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised when the car debuts at something under the weight of the 2004 Cobra I had? BTW....that car was a pig, IMHO (from a weight perspective). And ya, I know about this reg and that - just stating what I *wish* were possible.
If it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse, I suppose I am. However, I didn't throw the horse out there to have it beat on in the first place (in this particular thread, anyway).
Fortunately, I had no illusions about "surprising" anyone. BTW...very nice of you to give those posters to Tim. He gave me 5 of em. No, they're not on my dart board - honest injun!
