Please make the Z28, and make it affordable
Re: Please make the Z28, and make it affordable
I like to throw my meaningless opinion into the SS vs Z28 debate as much as anybody. After thinking about it some more though, ZL1 is the obvious choice for the true top dog car. You can't make Z28 the true top dog, the name has been watered down for far too long, too many 16 second quarter mile sub 200hp cars have born the name. I only support SS in these typically because i don't think people are realistic about what the man on the street will think when he sees Z28 (read, not a supercar, that's for sure)
ZL1, like Z06, has only ever appeared as a race car for the street. Better to ressurect a long dormant RPO that truly ruled, rather than a badge that, like it or not, doesn't mean anything except V8 camaro to most people, and never had the most available HP...
The fact that ZL1 had an all aluminum 427 is just too perfect.
Besides, doesn't it make sense for Z28 to be able to dominate in big numbers in affordable racing classes like the 1LE Z28s of 3/4 fame?
SS = V8, but not kidney busting suspension, think maybe a little tighter than GTO. Give it available base and Z28 spec engines. I think GM drops the ball if they only offer a ~400hp V8 with uncomfortable all out handling suspensions
Z28 = kidney busting all out handling V8 car, no base V8 available. Make it to be THE car to beat in it's class, yet relatively affordable.
ZL1 = big block(cubes anyway) king, Z28 suspension or better supercar.

There WILL NOT be a stripped 425-450hp car available.
NOT HAPPENING.
Now, I'd like to pay much more attention to your opinions in the future, but next time ensure that they aren't quite so dumb and it'll make it easier.

My first post in this thread was WELL under my usual threshold...
FLAMECON 4, 3 tops.
Read this:
Flame Response Conditions (FLAMECONs) describe progressive alert postures primarily for use between the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the commanders of unified commands -OR- The Mighty PacerX when some e-chump needs hisself an intarwebnet 12-pack of message board whoop-a$$ opened up. FLAMECONs are graduated to match situations of varying military severity and post stupidity, and are numbered 5,4,3,2, and 1 as appropriate. FLAMECONs are phased increases in combat response. In general terms, these are descriptions of FLAMECONs:
FLAMECON 5 - Normal peacetime response... like, when I'm asleep, or after I just had a Marlboro... might wanna check my pulse, just to be safe.
FLAMECON 4 - Normal peactime response, with heightened analysis, increased intelligence and strengthened didactic measures... also known as the "Ghandi" response.
FLAMECON 3 - Increase in force readiness above normal readiness as used in normal posts w/ acerbic wit, but no insults... snarky, but in a "Mother Theresa after a bad day at the Leper Colony" sorta way.
FLAMECON 2 - Open hostilities, up to and including maximum applications of conventional weaponry, such as the use of logic to dismantle an argument, possibly quoting the opponent's faulty premises, or pointing out badly misspelt werds... but less than total warfare.
FLAMECON 1 - Maximum application of force, up to and including thermonuclear logic weapons, arcane references to movies, history and/or literature, and really big words that most opponents can neither spell nor pronounce correctly.

Re: Please make the Z28, and make it affordable
Dear PacerX:
I won't stoop to call YOU stupid, that is evident. If you will go back to what I posted, and READ it (if you can), you will see what I said. I never said that a "stripper" car would be cheap. Did you see the part where I said the top gun car would likely be 40K? I can tell you this, there WILL be options, even on the top car, and they won't be free, therefore, there will be some variation or range in price. And when I say stripper, I dont mean fiberglass seats, plastic windows, etc. All I mean is, for instance, all performance options but none or few of the unecessary items that add weight, for example power locks, windows, trunk release, etc. I ordered my 85 that way, and I think that may be possible for this car. I realize options are likely to be packaged, but maybe you wouldn't have to get power everything and a navigation system to get HUD for instance. If you will look at what I speculated about for the prices, they are not out of line with what others are saying. It was just fun speculation anyway, but I'll tell you, you almost take the fun out of it....almost.
But I have to admit, the stupid comment really hurt. The lobotomy one too. I went and rode around and cried for while
Please, take it back! If you continue to think my comments are stupid, I don't know what I'll do! WHAT WILL BECOME OF ME???!!!
Or not. Keep throwing those "barbs" PacerX, it makes you look really smart yourself. No doubt you are a tiny little guy who was picked on a lot growing up. I'm sorry man. And Spankey Monkey, keep that dictionary handy.
Take care of each other guys!

LOL............ funny none the less.

willz, I think the reason that Pacer blew a cork, is that speculation on price, engines, and options has pretty much been beaten to death. There are a few general lines that people on here follow. There is the wishful thinker. These are the people who think they will get a V8 option for under $25K, and who still think that things such as roll-up windows could actually happen. Ain't gonna happen. Never. Ever. Your first post pretty much fell into the wishful thinker catagory. Then, there are the speculators. Speculators generally talk about generalities........... with very little specific detail............. very few absolutes (as to power, price, and so-on). They are just happy to be able to talk about an actual......... possible Camaro again. Then there are the realists. Most of us have a general idea about what is possible, and what isn't. While it is fun to talk about pie in the sky dreams, most of us have pretty much adapted the "we'll wait and see," attitude.
Believe me, the last group is much less stressful. When the car gets closer to reality, then there may be a few more "bones" to discuss. Until then, it is just conjecture. Don't take too many people on here too seriously................ they have been here a long time, and have a passion for the Camaro that few have. Goodness knows that me and Pacer have had our fair share of "debates." However, I always enjoy reading his posts............... and always respect his opinions............ even when they are directed at me.
So, just sit back and enjoy. You will be a much happier person.

Wow, what gives!? You were a lot nicer here than you were against me in that one thread a while back
I know we are cool now, but I feel like you should dish out a little more punishment. Hehehe, j/k.
Re: Please make the Z28, and make it affordable
I knew it!!!! You are an angry little guy! To paraphrase one of my favorite flicks, You got some lip on you, thigh-high. No spankey, I'm not leaving. Keep those posts short, easy on the W-O-R-D-S.
OK buddy, if it makes you happy, NO NO NO NO OPTIONS. I get it, if it makes you happy, and the top car with the LS7 can be 88K. That will make it more than the Corvette and THAT will be cool.
And by the way, thanks for making the Concept happen. I'm sorry, it took a bit for me to realize that you were in charge of the whole thing.

Yeah thanks. Some of my stuff may be dreaming, but I've had a lot of that since 1993 about the new Camaro so it is a tough habit to break. But, its all good, and I stay pretty happy actually. Real happy since there may be a Camaro again. But thanks for the advice, and for being reasonable. And I'm not upset with the little guy, or the monkey.
