A perfect example of why you should take car magazines reviews not so seriously...
First, I do realize this is a good mentioning of the Camaro, but what it points out is the frivolousness of car magazines...

Be sure to read the rest of the article as well.
I like the Mustang and think it is a great car and awesome competition for the Camaro, but really, C&D? Did Ford advertise more in July or something?
New York Times - In Defense of Camaro
When the Camaro first rolled out last spring, it was hailed a performance bargain. Barely a few months later, everyone seemed to think the Camaro SS inferior to the Mustang GT — a car with a solid rear axle and a 4.6-liter V-8 that barely puts out more power than the Camaro offers with its base V-6. The following two quotes are representative of the general sea change in journalists’ opinion of the Camaro:
Camaro’s Zeta roots pay dividends, with the suspension striking a brilliant balance between lively, grippy road-holding and wonderfully compliant damping. Meanwhile, the SS offers decent feedback through the steering wheel.
Could it be better? Absolutely, but at least its deficiencies involve its interior detailing more than its dynamics.

We wish Porsche had supplied the steering. Shades of Camaros past are evident in the slightly overboosted and overinsulated wheel.
The stiff, insulated structure soaks up engine vibes and tire moaning, but the rear end discombobulates and dances while accelerating over rough pavement.

I read that on Friday and meant to post a link. Ezra has something here. The trend is exactly the the "friend I went to HS with" thread -- after a few positive reviews, the hate floweth...

There's a vast difference between the track and street. Where do the engineers draw the line? If GM made a track weapon, I'm sure the journalists would complain that Camaro isn't civilized enough for the American public...
Btw, Ford have never supplied a non-Track Pack Mustang to any Camaro comparison test. The results are somewhat skewed in Mustang's favor when the two cars are tested at the track. Now, a 'Track-Pack' Camaro might be a fairer comparison but at this point in time, there is only one variation of Camaro available.
Great article btw. It tends to mock the sheep mentality of some here.

Mag opinion i hold in check until i can either agree or disagree. I acknowledge a ton of people buy based on other peoples perceptions. I tend to buy with my butt in the drivers seat.
i read car mags for test results, specs and pics. F the commentary

I've been reading C&D for several years and I've not seen any such bias. They love BMW, Honda, and '97+ Corvettes, but I don't think this is bias -- just consistently great results from consistently great cars. They gave the Accord Crosstour and the BMW X6 the ridicule they deserved for styling, and when they drove a rental-fleet C6 Corvette with an automatic, they didn't exactly go easy on it.
Lately, Ford has done a great job turning out great products. Car and Driver has said so, but so has the rest of the industry. A positive opinion is not the same as bias.

the only car that chevy makes , that car and driver likes is the vette. anything ford puts on the road, they rave about. i dont need to post examples for people to see that. just read the magazine. its in the writing.
They've been raving about Fords lately because Alan Mullaly has done a kickass job turning that company around, and the products are really kicking *** right now. Good cars get good reviews, and Ford is building good cars. The Taurus, Fusion, Focus, Mustang, Edge, Flex, and F-series are all great, and that comes out in the reviews. A few years ago, the Mustang and Fusion were lackluster, and that showed in the reviews as well.
Like I said, a positive opinion doesn't mean bias if the products back it up.
This is GM learning from it's mistakes with the 4th Gen and giving the public something they would buy while still be able to kick some behind in the track. Could they have build a better performer in the track? yes... but then it either would have cost more money or not be as comfortable on the street. I believe that they reached a great compromise as performance and comfortable and affordable as possible.
GM did create a track weapon... and it didn't sell... 4th Gen F-body anyone??? and the journalists did complain...

You still haven't provided any specific evidence of bias.
A positive opinion (which you've alluded to generally, but not specifically) isn't enough. You need to show somewhere that they gave a Ford the win when it didn't deserve it.

The only biased test that comes to mind was a few years ago with the Mustang vs. GTO test. The GTO beat the crap out of the Mustang, but the Mustang finished first because because they gave more points to the Mustang in the "gotta have it" catagory.
LOL! It seems that you only see what you want to read. I've read many of your posts and it sure seems like your bias is preventing you from seeing the truth about anything that is different from your opinion. Look - when the Camaro first came out, it could do no wrong. EVERYONE was praising it and GM for FINALLY making it. It was even dubbed the "savior" by some publications. Now, as time passes, it's not all it was supposed to be. It happens to a lot of cars over time. Give folks time to pick something apart and they will. That's just the way it is.
