Our preliminary take on the Camaro Concept, plus an interview with Scott Settlemire!
Our preliminary take on the Camaro Concept, plus an interview with Scott Settlemire!
Just got in from a LONG day. I will cut right to the chase...
Without a doubt, you need to see this car in PERSON
Well, you all have seen pictures of it. Some earlier than others but if you go anywhere in the automotive world, you just can't miss it. It is EVERYWHERE. Overall response has been unimaginable.
There is one thing that is very imporant to know about this car:
Don't discredit this car yet. If you like it or if you hate it or if are stuck somewhere in between, you MUST see this car in person to appreciate it. Ask ANYONE who has.
There are accents and details on this car that simply do not clearly reveal themseves in pictures, in print or on a screen. The C6 was very similar in this regard. Also, please bear in mind that this is a CONCEPT. If it makes production (and we certainly hope it does), there are likely some changes that will be made, and those changes may be for the better or the worse in your opinion. For one example, it is highly doubtful that the interior will be as wild as the concept.
So you need to see it in person before you can fairly judge it, good or bad. Of course, it is now in Detroit but like many have speculated, there is also a fiberglass mock-up at the LA Auto show right now as we speak, see the sticky thread above.
If you can't make either show, this concept will be making the other shows in the near future, and we will do our best to keep everyone informed as to when and where it will be.
Chris and I both agree...the more we see of it, the better it looks. Make no mistake, if we truly did not like it, we would be truthful about that as well. Just like everyone, there are points that we like and do not like out it, but what we like far outweighs the dislikes....by a landslide.
Again, you need to see this car in person to fully appreciate it and fairly judge it.
Interview with Scott "Fbodfather" Settlemire!
Right after the unvileing, we sat down with Scott "Fbodfather" Settlemire himself for one of our podcasts to talk with him for a few minutes about the Camaro Concept.
We will be releasing this podcast shortly and will post when we do. Just head over to our Podcast forum if you don't know what this is all about. All you need is an MP3 player, hardware or software. Don't miss this one!

It's been an amazing day today! I was soo happy to be fortunate to be able to be there and enjoy that whole experience as a Camaro Enthusiasts.
The car is simply amazing in person - stunning in silver and some damn sexy lines in this car.
You all should enjoy listening to our newest Podcast episode for our immediate reactions and interview with Scott.

Seriously, I never heard one thing about it.
However, a Chrysler exec was noticed heading toward at the Camaro. He took one look, got a painful look on his face and said one word...
"...Ouch...."
...and walked away.
(I hope the Chellenger was well-received. I hope they make it and make it good, but it may have to struggle to keep up with its name...)
After the Camaro was unveiled, you could not get anywhere near the car for well over two hours without a serious struggle. The crowd around it was several people deep, and they were packed close and tight around it at all times. It was crazy how many people were there, getting up close to it was something you had to take a deep breath and try to make your way in. It took me more than one attempt.

Although I hear Chrysler only intends to make 25K challengers a Year so I dunno if the Camaro would cut into its sales

That's great. At this point, with the reception that it's getting, I can't see it not going into production. Not that I'm an expert, but common sense tells me that a ton of people want it.

I agree with Jason you cannot form a real opinion of this car w/o seeing it in person. Its much lower/wider in person. The photos make the car appear taller than it is.
The only real problem with the car?
THEY'RE NOT BUILDING THEM YET!!!!
