I'm a little sad that the chevy site says you won't be able to get the camaro until '09. I won't be suprised if they make some stupid CAFE law where all cars have to get 35mph highway by then... and only a v6 is available.

 

More stringent CAFE laws have a dim future in the USA. Just look at all our owners of big pickups, fullsize SUV's, guys with boats, camper trailers and snowmobile trailers, and on and on...

Anyways don't worry. There's plenty of hand-wringing tree huggers buying the amazing Toyota Prius and driving them around with pride. They'll save all the gas the rest of us need

Yep and 07 MY vehicles are out now. So about 1.5 years left.

If they even give a date, I think we can all take it with a grain of salt.

I'm sure that they have a very well planned schedule, and then they added at least 6-9 months to that schedule to come up with the date they're telling the public. They always keep room for unforseen setbacks, and they realize that the best way to keep enthusiasm high is to surprise everybody and get it out faster than anticipated, which they can accomplish by picking a date well beyond when they hope to actually get it out.

I'm expecting them to say it'll come in 2009 and not be much more specific about whether that means late 08 as an 09, or in 09 as an 09 or a 10. In reality, I'm expecting to see it in mid/late 08 as an 09, but that's just my wild-assed guess.

 

Agreed. I imagine that is their plan. Helps prevent torch-wielding mobs

 

Or they have a vast number premade so later today all they have to do is say "come and get it" and ring the dinner bell. Hmmmmmm maybe..........

The all-new Camaro will begin with early production versions at the end of 2008 and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2009.

 

So far, it's going as I figured.

 

I hope you're right, Jim, and it's out before Q1 2009. That'd be three years after the concept debuted, which is SSR-like...

 

So it looks to me like a late 2009 model year or early 2010 model year. It's a little farther out than I would like to see - but, realistically, it's more time to get finances ready to own one..... so it's not all bad.
