They evolve the body style. The second gen was not the natural evoloution of the first gen. There are other ways to go. This "there is no where to go once you go retro" idea is propagated by people that are anti retro in an effort to put fourth what they think is the greatest argument against retro. It holds no water at all.

I'm sorry, I haven't done any reading on this forum in a while... So i'm not sure if this topic has been beaten to death already

BTW, I love the retro look.... I'm not tryingto make any type of anti-retro argument here. I just wanted some opinions

Eh... I've wondered the same thing... As seen by falculk's reponse, it doesn't bother some... to me, though... it makes for an odd, and haphazard timeline... seems like it "jumps around"....

I guess in the grand scheme of things, I guess it doens't mean a lot... but it is bothersome to some people, myself included.

Re: once you go retro... what is the next step/generation?

I wouldn't mind the 6th Gen being a 2nd Gen retro, especially if the next-gen Mustang is a 70-71 retro.... wow would that be ugly.
We'd have a nice looking car, and the Stang would be god-awful ugly. Oh, wait, that's how it is now. (well ok we don't quite have ours yet)

But anyway, I think realistically the next deisgn would be something new, with a FEW heritage cues.

Well, we'll just have to stick around here for another few years and find out!

This is the same thing I keep thinking about...What's next? Is Chevy just going to follow Ford's lead forever? After seeing the clay though, the new Camaro is not anywhere near as retro as the 'Stang so I think when it comes to a redesign it won't be as major an issue for Chevy as it will be for Ford...

It has 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen styling cues already.

IT AIN'T RETRO.

Re: once you go retro... what is the next step/generation?

The problem is, once you do a retro design like this, it is like erasing the other generations in a way. Right now, there are little to zero design cues in the concept from any other gen beside the 1st. So now we are starting over at the first gen again and going from there. So if you evolve from the first gen, you will get away from that design more and more as time goes on, and if you don't, you will be stuck with a design that is very similar to what you started with. So why not bring in SOME design cues from the past while breaking new ground? It is going to happen anyway unless you do a retro second gen, then third, and so on. I think we all can agree that this would be a huge mistake and be ridiculus. How will history judge this design? A copy-cat of a classic design will not become a classic itself. People will always remember the original.

Are we talking about the early clay or the car we'll see in a few more weeks?

Re: once you go retro... what is the next step/generation?

There is plenty of opportunity to evolve the design . I look at the Mustang , and I see a very easy car to evolve . Its a very strong design with lots of avenues to travel design wise . I felt the same way about the clay Camaro , it looked like a very strong design base .

Im so glad the bubble wedge on wheels design themes are going , going ....almost gone ....saying that , yes I still LOVE my 94 Camaro .

Really now that they have changed the configuration of the car somewhat, there are all kinds of new styling directions you could take to evolve the vehicle.
