It comes with a can of fix-a-flat and an air compressor instead. Saves weight, space, and cost. Get a AAA membership and be glad GM went the extra mile to reduce weight where they could.

Tho dont the fix-a-flat liquids basically destroy the tire because even if you then get it patched up the liquid on the inside of the tire renders it useless because it unbalances the tire?

Not quite.
The Fix-A-Flat kind of softens the inside of the tire so that it flows around the puncture, thus sealing it (if it's small enough).
That softened inner layer prevents a patch from sticking to the inside of the tire, thereby rendering the tire unrepareable.

Unless you can find someone to plug the tire. But I think most garages won't do that anymore.

I'm an Mercedes-Benz Master Tech. (yeah I know, don't knock the brand they know how to make their cars. Oh yeah they are heavy and btw they can out handle most cars on the road!) But your right, in the very rare instance that you get the patch to seal, which is about never because that stuff destroy's the inside of the tire making it impossible to prep. It will NEVER balance out. Also we never plug, its very rare to find anyone who does anymore because you don't know what the inside of the tire looks like. You don't want to plug it, send the customer on their merry old way and then have a structural failure of the tire. Its not good, people start throwing around words like law suite.

I am a big fan of haveing no spare tire. It save's a little weight. I just may be one of the lucky ones, but I haven't had a flat in 8 years. Its a good thing to becuase there was never a spare in my '84 Trans Am, and yeah someone took it out of my '98 also.
