No, I think Charlie's going to be as excited as most of us. Based on whet I'm hearing about the Camaro, I suspect once he gets in and drives the car any complaint about weight will probally be muted.
As far as price goes I am really hoping to get the following for $30-32K:
-400ish HP V8 (mid size V8 i hope)
-Six speed
-Power everything (except passenger seat)
-Leather
-Monsoon type stereo with bluetooth, mp3 and ipod capability (maybe 40gb hd like Cadillac)
If this sounds unreasonable then I might need to look elsewhere. I really love the way the new Camaro is turning out. Keeping my fingers crossed.

price is set last because that's the biggest battle of all. exactly what to charge to the penny... and yes, they haggle over pennies.
they absolutely have a price range set. engineering needs to konw so they know what materials can and cant be used. project managers need it to consider content packaging and variations. so it's safe to make general statements such as "priced in mustang territory"
The guys that work in GM & the big Brass of any company would know that they want something manufactured in a Price range so they know wha tthey can sell the product for.
like in all the car busi. they want the cars to start out about a range so they can sell it for some many $$$s over that way they can make a profit. so they may make a car for 15k & sell it for 20k.

I hope so, because if he is happy with it, everyone else will be ecstatic

So, given that we are discussing price...what will be the Canadian markup?
When I say markup, I mean the difference in MSRP between the US and Canada...not the dealership's markup?
Shall we say 25%? 30%? Even though we are making it and our dollar is stronger than the US dollar?
And if the price difference is steep, will GM try to prevent importation (back
) into Canada from the US with threats to dealerships and buyers (warranty invalidation)?
Will GM (and yes GM sets the MSRP!!!) be charging me more for destination (delivery) than the guy in Texas (when I am 30 minutes away from the factory)? (See destination charges for the Regal '08 - built in Oshawa - to get a sense of my anger)
I really gotta know...because quite frankly I am sick of being taken advantage of by GM.
If there will be a "Canadian Idiot Tax" (like we don't pay enough taxes already...
) ...I simply won't buy.
Disclaimer: I love the car, I have never complained about anything related to this car...when I saw it at the Toronto Auto Show a few years back my jaw dropped. I like the lights, I like the wheels...this is truly one of the greatest cars to happen in a long time for GM.

You want to really hear a complaint, the museum delivery for the Corvette occurs right next to the plant where the car is built, and not only do you pay the delivery charge, you also pay an extra $450 for the opportunity. Worth every penny I might add.
