Pretty cool that the task force was interested in the CTS coupe maybe there is a glimmer of hope that they will let GM to continue develop some really nice cars. As for the Camaro, it makes money and is the hottest car they sell right now so the idea that they would not make it because of a standard that goes into effect in 2016 is kinda crazy and paranoid.

Isn't he stepping down at the end of the year? Nothing he says really has any credibility IMO and everything could change with Chapter 11.

Just don't buy a car that you can't drive off the lot right away and you'll be good.

That sounds good but the car that I would buy would probably have to be special ordered with the options I want. The two dealerships in my area refused to comment when the news media went to their dealership and asked them if they got a letter. The other dealerships in the next town over (20 miles away) were very happy to report that they did not receive a letter. I guess that time will tell what happens to the dealers. Maybe too much uncertainty in these economic times

Everybody needs to stop harping on the government and/or our politicians. Yes, the government has a majority stake in GM. Yes, lots of you don't like it.

The fact is that the government has stated publicly that they intend to sell the ownership back to GM as soon as GM can afford to buy it, and that they have no interest in running GM. They have done nothing that indicates otherwise.

That means that all of this complaining is just because people don't like the government, and that crosses the political line on this board. Stop posting that stuff.

I have no idea what's in writing and what isn't. Does it really matter, though? This whole procedure has been special, and hardly anything is being done by the book. I think this situation warrants the special treatment, but that's beside the point: there's plenty of stuff in writing that is being ignored.

i know. im just sayingthat now that they govt. owns majority, if they see something really good start to come out of gm after the bankruptcy, whos to say they dont want to hang on to it to get more money for themselves or even sell at a higher price than what was origionally paid for it? theres alot of power at stake here. i just dont like this situation. and im sorry if the threads sometimes get political. its kinda hard to keep politics out of it now that politics own it.
