Arrow NEWS: 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible makes surprise appearance on Facebook

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Facebook teaser - Click above to enlarge

In this brave new world of the Internet and social media, you never really know when an established company might break with tradition and tease the unsuspecting public with something exciting through YouFace, Twitter or Facebook. Such is the case with what appears to be a teaser image of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible on Chevrolet's official Facebook page for its modern-day muscle car.

We've seen spy shots galore and even a fake or two, but this is the first glimpse that General Motors itself has given of the upcoming droptop Camaro, which is slated to go into production at the Oshawa assembly plant in the first quarter of 2011. We don't have any more details about the Camaro Convertible other than what the picture reveals, but in this case we'll merrily take what we can get.

With the introduction of the Camaro Convertible, Chevrolet looks to erase the one major advantage that its longtime rival, the Ford Mustang, continues to lord over it. So, what do you think? No big deal or the must-have fashion accessory of 2011? Thanks to all who sent this in!

Too bad they can't have it to where the trunk locks/unlocks with the doors. Then they could ditch that key hole and turn the Chevy badge into a push release.

You know it.

Maybe I am missing something, but someone tell me why that is there and not released with the button in the driver side door?

That's a good question. The hard top doesn't have a key cylinder on the trunk, does it?

Nope, there is zero trunk keyhole in the 2010 Camaro coupe.

Could it be that the rear seat won't fold down in the convertible?
If true, you will need a key to open the trunk if the battery dies.

Why not hide it behind the emblem.... they need to be a bit more creative just like with that third brake light. Make the spoiler a bit taller and throw it on there. The convertible is not 100% the coupe anyway make it a bit unique outside of the roof perhaps?

Cars back in the '70s hid the trunk lock behind the rear emblem.
You had to pivot the cover out of the way to reveal the key cylinder.
Why can't they do that again?

Another thing I noticed about this 'vert.
Look at the dimples on either side of the reverse lights.
Are those the sensors for the reverse sensing system?

Those would be back up sensors sir. For the girls who cant get out and check.....pretty soon we will need to have a sensor at every corner, mirror, cruise missile sensor and of course a sensor for the sensor when the sensor says that sensor is not operational.

While I did notice the trunk keyhole on the rear panel of the 2011 Camaro convertible, to me its like the mole on Cindy Crawford's face... who cares when the end result is so flippin' beautiful?

Okay, here's the facts of the rear decklid...

That keyhole? Pre-production.

Remember the white test car with the cheap Autozone headlights they they had to throw on the car for testing at the last minute? Remember how that made everyone crazy with worry and it turned out there was nothing to worry about? Just like that.

So will we get a "not the real keyhole" emoticon?

Let's hope that's not real cause it looks like *** and could be remedied for less than $20 most likely.
