New Camaro Where do we race it if at all?

Much as I love Camaro's I love all forms of Auto Racing even more. Do you think a factory backed racing program is a "must do" for the 2009 car? If so, what do you think it should be ? NHRA Pro Stock? Speed GT Touring car series ? Grand Am Cup?

Personnally, I hope the Camaro, along with the Challenger and Mustang resurrect the SCCA Trans Am series. And if it does, let it be production based cars not the tube frame silhouttes that series had become.

NHRA, GT Touring, and Trans Am as you described it. 3 niches, 3 markets, 3 sales.

Drag racing... of course. Road racing would be nice as well. As for NASCAR, I would like to see it as a pace car, not as a competition car.

I'd love to see GM have a worthy car for Pro-Stock again, something that has been lacking since the F-Bodies disappeared.

A guy I work with is in the know as far as NHRA and the new Pro-Stock Camaro is being built as we speak. I have also heard this from Warren Johnson's son who I used to go to school with as a kid.
Rumor or not?
I have no proof except for their word.

I remember some discussions about this before relating to NASCAR.

I would pay to see something akin to STOCK CAR racing- set it up as the Busch series racing the new Camaro, Challenger, and Mustang (maybe even throw in a new GTO).

It would bring some fun back into the crap that NASCAR has become and would remind folks what real stock car shoot outs were all about. I know NASCAR would never let it happen since they would not have total, complete control, but it would be nice.....

You missed autoX. A great grassroots motorsport where stock pretty much means stock. Pontiac has had great success with the Solstice in C stock, laying a beating on the Miata. It would be real nice to see the Camaro back on top in F stock.

drifting would be a great way to appeal to the import/ tuner crowd.

I think a Camaro Funny Car to compete against the Mustangs would be awesome. I like the setup they got currently with the Pro Stock with the Cobalt but they just are not making the HP the Summit cars of Greg Anderson and Jason Line are.

Road Racing is a must as well. Trans Am I haven't heard from much and last time I checked they were running the C5 vettes. I dunno if a ALMS or Speed GT series would be more suited for them now.

They should get involved in drifting as well since Ford, Dodge, and Pontiac have dipped into it. Though with Nascar unless the other pony cars were involved I wouldn't want to see it racing in Nascar, though I can't wait to see some Daytona 500, Brickyard 400, and Indy 500, pace car Camaros come next year

I think that a Camaro Z28 going against Boss Mustangs in Grand Am cup racing, running along side Chevy backed Cobalt SS's would be awesome.
Im sure Camaro could show up in drifting...maybe with a turbo 6cyl?
As for Pro-Stock NHRA, meh...most of them arent Camaros, they share nothing but the name. I would like to see Camaro in production-spec racing, not tube frames and fiberglass.
