The new Camaro should be flex-fuel capable
The new Camaro should be flex-fuel capable
Considering the state of flux we are in regarding petroleum and alternative fuels such as ethanol, I think the Camaro should come flex-fuel capable.
It costs little to add this feature, and honestly every gas powered car GM makes should come with this anyway considering the times we live in.
Would just be a nice feather in the cap and might even raise eyebrows of some green-freak tree huggers

Re: The new Camaro should be flex-fuel capable
There is just one pump with it in all of Nashville, but that could change by 2008/2009. For as little as it would cost to include, I think GM would get lots of positive press for it.

Camaro25thann makes a good point.
It's great to have flex fuel vehicles, but refueling stations aren't exactly commonplace unless you work for city or state government (who have refueling facilities for their alternative fueled vehicles).
If that's true here in Cali, it must be more than true for the rest of the country.

Chris, didn't we do this one already? Wasn't it discussed that making it run on E85 would sacrifice its performance on gas? Besides, E85 is not as environmentally friendly as the government leads us to believe and its not available nationwide.
Heck, I'd rather run propane than E85.

Its true the timing and fuel delivery required to flex between the two fuels reduces max HP....so lets just do it on the V6 cars
The performance issue could be resolved with a dash switch, but then again that is adding more cost...I personally don't think ethanol is economically viable on its own (aka w/o the massive farm subsidies from the govt), but I'm suggesting this as a PR move more than anything substantive.
Perhaps "Active fuel management" will be enough combined with a 5 or 6 speed auto and the T56 to make waves in the MPG arena.
Re: The new Camaro should be flex-fuel capable
Personally, I think E85 is the biggest scam ever. It takes more than one gallon of fossil fuel to make one gallon of ethanol. And then you get 20% LESS gas mileage with that. It's a bunch of balogney.
We used to have a flex fuel Caravan. We put over 110,000 miles on it. Only once did I ever run into an E85 gas pump. Either in Wisconsin or Michigan, can't remember where. In hundreds of fill ups, my flex fuel vehicle only got one tankful of E85 in it's life time.
Besides, here in the Chicago area, ALL fuel has 10-20% Ethanol. It sucks, BTW.
