Market adjustments?

Is anyone finding extreme examples of dealer mark-ups in their areas?

I've found a few here in the bay area (no I won't post the advertisement links as I don't want to give these guys any business).

2LT for $36K+
1LT for $28k+
1LS for $27k

The second two aren't so bad, but a 2LT for more than 2SS MSRP!?! I guess these Chevy dealers didn't learn a thing from their Pontiac cousins from the GTO.

One of the dealerships I talked to here gave me a speech about how the car was getting $10000 markups. I didn't actually get a quote from him as I hung up in the middle of that.

Refuse Camaro Markups!

There are a lot of dealers out there who are willing to sell the car at MSRP or below. Those prices you posted are just insane!

The sad part is one of them is the dealer that services my current Chevys. I was planning on buying my Camaro from him because as his sales manager once told me, "we never sell a car for more than MSRP." It looks like I may be taking my business elsewhere.

I believe there is an option where you can purchase your Camaro through any other dealer in the country, then have it actually delivered to the dealer nearest you. I do also believe there is an extra $250 or $500 charge for this though.

You can order your vehicle thru any dealership in the country. You have the options of setting up a drop ship to a dealership in your market. You would have to arrange that before you order the vehicle though. Chris is correct most dealerships do charge for this in the $250-500 range. You may have a problem getting a dealer to agree to it since they are charging over MSRP for the vehicles.

Another option you have is to order from a different dealership and have it shipped to you from that dealership. If you can find a dealership that will sell below MSRP (like us) you can have it shipped from Michigan to Cali (for example) for around $1000.00. You would have to complete the transaction before you see the vehicle though.
