Re: K - this is the wrong forum... but... HHR?
DEALERSHIP TYPE PEOPLE/FOLKS, I NEED THY HELP.
We found the car.
It'll be an HHR 2LT in the Burgundy-Sporty-Reddish-Metallica-whateveryoucallit color.
Couple of issues:
1) Incentives. Pontiac has $500 for ya if you have bought a GM car since 2002. Which I have - the mighty 2003 Crapalier. The Chevy dealership says there's no such program, but these programs changes so fast that I don't know what to believe. HELP!
2) Vouchers/coupons, etc... Used to be $500 "we think you're a nice guy" vouchers available. Is this program dead? If not, how do I twist the bastar... erm... gentlemen's... arms to get my grubby paws on one (or two)?
3) QUIT PUTTING THE DEALER INSTALLED RUNNING BOARDS ON THE HHR'S. The fitment of the examples I looked at at the dealership was A-W-F-U-L. Do it at the factory, at least they'll fit 'em right.
I'd consider buying it from out of state if I can get what I want, and somebody matches the $3000 they'll give me for the 2001 Aztek with 110,000 miles I'm trading in.
Here's the laundry list of MUST HAVES ('deal breaker' without them):
Burgundy-sporty-red-foofoo-mist-metallic (or whatever the he11 you call it).
Leather w/ heated seats. (KA1)
Cashmere interior color (otherwise known as "tan").
4-spd Automatic. (AP3 & MX0)
Side Curtain Airbags (ASF)
ABS. (JM4)
2.4 liter Ecotec. (LE5)
DO NOT WANTS (as in 'deal breaker', I'll wait to get what I want - or order it):
Polished wheels. (QP2)
Running boards. (BVE)
OnStar. (UE1)
Spoiler. (T43)
Sunroof. (CF5)
Meh... I'll take 'em, but can live without 'em:
Engine Block Heater. (K05)
Smoker's package. (DT4)
Cargo Mat, Embroidered. (B41)
Floor Mats, Uplevel. (B50)
Uplevel radio with CD changer. (US9)
Bumper, rear cover insert. (VGG)
Side rails, roof mounted. (G63)

Agreed

Pace, have you considered just ordering exactly what you want? Not sure what the cutoff is on the MY2006's, or if you want to hold out for the '07s. We had a rental HHR for a few days. It was pleasant, but a little smallish, and the visibility wasn't the best. But a nice car, and would make a good commuter.
Own an Impy SS, yes it's worth the premium

Silver is basically zero maintenance. Wash it, dry it, throw some wax on it every once in a while - cake.

Exactly why my last 2 cars have been Silver.
BTW, I REALLY like the HHR. But that's all I can offer on it, sorry.

I can only add a couple useful comments here for ya .
1) When optioned right , the HHR is cool looking car both in and out .
2) After having my Cobalt SS/SC for almost a year now and 25,000 miles , the Delta Chassis is rock solid . My car is still tight and rattle free , even thru all the hard abuse Ive put it thru at the track . Solid as a rock mechanically . So , with your wife at the helm , the HHR oughta feel like brand new for years
If you order one , cobalts have already started excepting 2007's , I assume the HHR chassis mate will be the same .
Hmm , isnt there a shop that has already crammed a LS2 into a HHR

[QUOTE=Doug Harden]poSSum's wife didn't like the driver's view / position in the HHR....has your wife actually sat in an HHR?
We lost a Traiblazer (my wife's ride) in Hurricane Katrina and went looking at what was available at the Chevy store. She had the same complaint about the HHR -- didn't like the drivers view/position. Prefered the Equinox over both HHR and Trailblazer, bought one and she's a happy camper.

Hmm.. I don't know if this falls into you will poke me in the eye category..
Saturn Vue Redline... it has a honduh engine doing 260hp, 5 speed automatic, and in FWD form gets 20/28 for mileage... Can get a loaded one for mid 20s...
If this upsets you please overlook it, just trying to help

We considered an Impy SS and a MC SS and a 'Nox and a Torrent, but at the end of the day we didn't want to pay the premium for an appliance.
Besides... properly wrung out, wifey's Sportster is as quick as a stock LS1 Camaro, so she's really looking for transportation more than an image machine or something that's got extra $$$ to mean a larger payment.
