Re: July GM High Tech Mag

Last month they said it was a go, when no announcement has been made yet. I give them credit for trying, but they're just a little too optimistic anymore. Weren't they the ones that said it was a done deal that the '02 Special Editions would have the LS6? I like the mag, but its gotten too tabloid.

It would be interesting to save this for 1-4 years (depending upon when the car actually comes out) and see exactly what was accurate, and what was not.

I think they are trying to compete with sites like this. THey have a built in 45-60 day publication delay they can't do squat about. So to remain relevant, they are gambling on facts and trying to predict. I'm sure they thought 2 mos ago that by now it would be a sure thing, so they went with what they had.

I think it hurts their credibility more to be way off than to be way late. Not everybody that reads the mag comes to this forum, so they don't have to compete and they really can't compete with the internet. They just have to have better content and accuracy than Motortrend...which should be very doable with the connections to GM Rick Jensen and Co should have.

Scott Settlemire, presently, Manager of Chevrolet and Hummer Show Exhibits. Past - Asst. Brand manager Corvette/Camaro.

In plain talk, a car nut, like us, who is employed by GM, and loves Camaros to death. Fortunately for us, is active on most of the major FCar boards and does his best to keep FCar enthusiasts informed.

Most importantly, one heck of a nice guy.

Scott Settlemier is in charge of the Camaro project at GM. He was in charge when they did the 4th gen, too. He's been involved with Camaro for longer than that, but I don't think he was in charge the whole time. I don't know his official title (I think it's "Brand Manager"), but I know that if it's regarding Camaro, there is no better source than Scott.

Hence the username "Fbodfather". He used to be known on these boards as Red Planet. You'll occasionally see references to that name (a lot of people call him Red).

JakeRobb, you'll get Scott all fired up if he sees this.

Scott was never in charge of Camaro. Not then, not today. Believe me, I wouldn't mind.... but its just not the case. To digress, the folks higher up on the food chain who are in charge, are car enthusiasts, and many personally own fcars.

"Fbodfather" came from one of the Hudson Valley Camaro guys. A couple of folks were BSing about the Sopranos, and they started giving themselves nicknames. One of the guys looks at Scott, and just blurted out "Fbodfather". The rest is now history.

Thats not at all correct... You shouldnt give an answer if you dont know. and if you think you know you should do more research. Thats how bad information becomes truth to some. I can see how you could have taken things you have read on this site about him, and turned it into the misinformation above... but there are more accurate posts right above yours that it could have been left to as the explaination. Sorry if I am out of line here, but reading wrong information being spread as a truth lately has been killing me.

Scott’s official title now is US Manager of Chevrolet/ Hummer Shows & Exhibits

Before April of 2002 he was the Camaro Brand Manager, before that he held many mgmt type positions at corporate Chevrolet in both Detroit and the Northeast.....

He is the Camaro man at GM

Edit: Ya beat me to it ChrisL

Re: July GM High Tech Mag

Scott was formerly the Asst. Brand Manager for the old Corvette/Camaro group... At the time the Asst. Mgr of that team was the default Camaro Brand Manager, as the head Brand Manager was busy with the Corvette.

Obviously when the Camaro died, the team was reformed to just the Corvette group.

True, but Scott's old boss Rick did have to sign off on all the bills for the things Scott did back then.... Scott being at all the shows and events, Camaro Legends Tour, those $1000 certificates, etc, etc.

Rick is a real good guy. He retired a year or two ago.
