Jake is on the new Corvette ZR-1 How about a team mate for the Camaro

I just reviewed the new pictures of the ZR-1 Vette and notices with a few others the air intake at the front of the car.

On the intake it has the Skull mascot from the Pratt & Miller C6-R race team.

The Skulls name is Jake and has been a mascot for the team since 2005 at Le mans where they had the moto "Take No Prisoners" on the pit wall.

Chevy embracing the Jake is a great move as he is just cool and sends a message.

IF Chevy plans to race a factory backed team Jake could use a team mate to join him in tking no prisoners. This also could be a great marketing tool for Chevy. Many remember the Road Runner from the 60's and this could put a true cool and powerful face on the Camaro and Chevy perfromance line.

Besides think of the many Shirts hats and Jackets could be marketed along with the progam and cars. The Mustang has a horse to represent it the Camaro can have something much cooler.

Anyway this would be a great way to market your race team with your street cars. It is a cool image that old and youg would embrace.

It is cool like a Pirate flag and offensive to no one.

Check out badboyvettes.com and learn what they are all about. While there you can buy a C6-R on their stuff page for $650,000 or a really cool $22 hat.

Jake on the ZR-1 intake

Jake on the race cars at Laguna.

Here is what Bad Biy Vette said about Jake on the car.

We had to know: How did Jake get tattooed on the ZR1's intake snorkel? Turns out it was none other than Tom Wallace, Corvette's Chief Engineer, who gave it the go-ahead . The story told to us was that when he saw the crossed flags on the ZR1's supercharger along with the conventionally placed ones on the nose and the intake snorkel he balked at the 3x arrangement. His solution? Honor the ZR1 connection to its racing roots and replace one set of flags with the embossed Corvette Racing skull.

So a very cool discovery awaits owners of the baddest street Corvette ever when they pop that hood!
... and we thought the howl under the hood was the supercharger. It's Jake doing his 650 HP acappella!

So we meet the Corvette engineers and designers at the GM Design Center and they say, "Follow us - We have something to show you". We're led way down to the basement of the building, traveling through a maze of endless tunnels.

Cool beyond belief although we are really seeing ... nothing.

Then, we abruptly turn a corner and under harsh industrial-grade fluorescent lights - there it is: A glossy, glossy dark grey carbon-fibered, clear hooded, split-coved, bad bad assed ZR1. "Wow! ", we finally manage to say, but it begged the question: "Why us?"

They reply, "We wanted you to see this." ... And with that they open its huge hood, articulated with carbon fiber bracing underneath. We then gaze upon the menacing supercharged 650+ HP LS9 behemoth and something else catches our eye.

- Can we be seeing this?

Embossed on the top of the air intake snorkel ... deep down and almost out of sight ... is an evil looking "Jake" staring up at us, more sinister than ever. The reality of the situation sinks in - the ZR1 is branded with the Corvette Racing skull mascot.

We react with a yelp. We then look up and see them, arms folded, looking at us with confident grins on their big GM faces. We are instructed to say absolutely nothing - until now.

Would be cool, but I cannot think of a way that the current Camaro logo can be changed to be as cool as the Jake.

I sure would like to see it happen, though. If it cannot, I am happy with how it is now. It is pretty recognizable.

I noticed that too and love that GM added the logo to the ZR1 I think it's a sweet touch and a great connection to the C6R racing team.

I'm not familiar with the logo in question, and I don't see any skulls on the new ZR1 pics. Can someone point it out?

It's the skull looking logo in plastic on the air intake leading to the throttle body under the hood of the LS9/ZR1. It's in the pics at the top of this thread.

Websense blocks the images. I didn't even know they were there! I'll have to check it out when I get home.

There needs to be something that makes up the "eyes" like the 'Vette flag does.
