Interesting....

This was the last place I would have expected to see Scotts name....

More to the 2008.5 Bullitt?
The time, date and place for the Bullitt Mustang's introduction have been set. And while we can't provide that information just yet, be rest assured that its mere existence will not be comforting to Scott Settlemeyer, the Camaro's brand manager (who is doing a fine job!) and the Dodge Challenger team. But then again, when has that not been true.

It's nice to see Scott get mentioned... even if they misspelled it.... and too bad he hasn't been in that job in 4 1/2 years.

wow. a 400 horsepower mustang. the equivalent Camaro would be the SS, i assume, and it's gonna have more than 400 horsepower. Plus, with the IRS and other goodies, I don't know if the Mustang will have better handling.

I wonder if Ford will follow their current trend of trickling out a few thousand of these cars, calling them limited edition and subjecting them to 5-figure markups from the dealers. Ford it seems will bend over backwards to keep these hot Mustangs out of the hands of the enthusiasts that want them the most.

Per the Mustang boards, this isn't good intel. Here is the gist of it posted by Boomer on themustangsource.com

<<Fourcam went to his source:

Quote:
LOL!!! Hah! That's the previous iteration of the "BOSS". XX designed the intake for it. It's basically a 2001 Bullitt style, mirrored, and with larger runners. It also has the Shelby GT500 heads on it. It's a 4.6L, and it only made 332HP with 10:1 compression.
That program got axed over a year ago! They wanted a dual runner intake, which XX also designed for them, but that proved too costly to manufacture, so they killed the program. XX warned them of cost way up front, but they wouldn't listen. XX also made as much power with the single runner manifold, but again, no one was interested.

It's not it guys.... sorry to get your hopes up

as previously stated regarding the Bullitt:

Nope. It's a 3V with an OEM version of a CAI (Ford Racing).
I'd be surprised if it hit 330HP. >>

You beat me to it. The Bullitt Mustang will be no threat to the Camaro.

We will have to see if a future Mustang will pose a threat. Word has it they have some decent motors in the works, but power and gas mileage are often the killer of Fords naturally aspirated offerings. Perhaps they will do better with the new line of motors under development, perhaps not...

So where is the BOSS version? What connection does Bullitt have with a road racing type Mustang??

I get the GT500 and the GT but isn't BOSS a more historic Mustang name than Bullitt, especially with road racing. I saw in AutoWeek that Parnelli Jones teamed up with Saleen to make a BOSS Mustang. Whay can't Ford?

(laughing)

A bunch of "blah blah blah", "chest thumping" if you ask me. And incorrect info. as well.

One, they can't even get the spelling of his name correct.
Two, Scott is not the 'Brand Mgr'. of Camaro.

They can't get the obvious correct. Why would I believe alot of speculation?

My guess is that in their infinite wisdom they sold the name just like they sold the GT40 name and now can't use it....

Actually the boss was also another side off company from ford. what was different was they built it in house, not like the early shelbys, towards the end of 67 the shelby were built in house by ford. The Boss has something to do with a guy named shinoda(not sure about the spelling). basically he was behind the boss and made a seperate company later on. There has been some later model mustangs that are actually Boss mustangs. there should be a website around for them.

I thought the Boss started with the Boss 302, which was Ford's counterpoint to the Z/28 for TransAm racing.
