I understand that was an issue when GM looked at comments on the interior, so I'm guessing I'm not alone.
Same here and never have been. They are just way to inconvienent. I can't imagine they would keep them there in the production model for saftey reasons alone. I am really impressed with the seats and the door panel inserts as I think the white on black looks very very good. However, the gauges both on the dasg and the console as well as the CD player is still just too much for me.

If it stays like this in the production model i guess i will have to learn to love it.

I agree with the rest of the dash / console haters. If the production car came out like that, i would not buy one.

I don't like that dashboard at all but what concerns me even more is the gigantic steering wheel

The console guages are the worst part for me. I know the first gen had 'em. and i know other people have been known to stuff their aftermarket guages down low. Not me, i want them where i can see them. Down low they aren't going to catch your eye if they suddenly go out of range, you have to consciously check them. Which is probably why i can;'t think of a single performance car besides the first gen camaro that had guages on the console. Just doesn't seem right. Not to mention, the front of the console is a good place for a change holder or other storage.

I love it just the way it is. Maybe lights in the dash cluster to alert you to check the gauges, if there is that much of an issue with scanning them occasionally.

I've said it before and I'll say it plenty more times....

Do NOT force me to opt for HUD simply because I can't read--or stand the look of--the traditional guages on the dash!

If you're taking T-tops from me, I demand a modern layout.

The console gauges are cool, the dash gauges are terrible. What car has console gauges these days?! Is that true, no T-Tops? Is any kind of removable roof planned?

Do yourself a favor and read this board a bit and do a search before someone flames you into ash

I've said it before and I'll say it again here... let the car have the console mounted gauges if that's what the heritage direction dictates - I have no problem with this at all, and in fact, have very fond memories of this feature on the 1st gens!... but the car absolutely requires an oil pressure gauge and a temp gauge in a natural line of sight for us trackies, who have every intention of carrying on the Camaro's road racing heritage with this car by participating in lapping and timed events on the road courses of Canada and the U.S.!
As I'm sure everyone is aware, these gauges have been (almost) front and centre on the dash for years, and I'm constantly checkin' 'em when I'm on the track. It's real easy to do on the dash configurations of the most recent generations!
Gimme a HUD, or some other configuration on the dash where this vital information is readily available in the "heat of battle"... 'cuz I don't want to be lookin' at a 5th gen without this feature, when this has been a "given" since almost day 1 of the Camaro's life.
Bottom line is that if something should go wrong while on the track, I need to know about it now, so that I can shut the car down before major damage happens. Heck, there are a lot of cars out there today that have absolutely no presumptions of performance... and yet still have the traditional, fuel, voltage, oil pressure and water temp gauges on the dash, that are easily readable... without having to take your eyes off the road in order to check an obscure location for this basic info.
Heck, even my '98 Dodge Grand Caravan has these gauges in plain view!!!

Best regardSS,

Elie

The console gauges don't bother me even one bit. I actuall think they are pretty cool.

The radio and HVAC controls just wouldn't work in a production vehicle, so I'm sure those will be changed to something a bit more conservative.

The main gauges... Well... I think they are pretty cool, too, but I don't think those will survive as such, either.

Lots of work to be done. It's interesting to see what they will develop into.

The console gauges are ok, they give it a unique feel in modern times when everything out there is regurgitated over and over again. Give an option for those who need them higher for easier access.
I like the location of the speedometer and tach, but I don't like the design.
The hvac and radio are hideous and need to be scrapped altogether.

Question: do you think it will not have the typical GM radio in it?

I think it will not have the typical GM radio... I'd guess that GM will hook up with a name brand stereo manufacturer and play that association for all it's worth! (if you'll pardon the pun)
