Question How were the disciples chosen?

Looking at who they are, the tidbits of background I can gleam from their posts, their post counts (or lack of), and where they reside I cannot figure this out. How did they get chosen?

The first rule of the winkie club is to not discuss the winkie club.

Haha I like Clean's answer. From what I know GM was looking for Camaro owner's to represent many different factions of enthusiasts. This includes varying ages, income levels, locations, backgrounds, etc. There was also a short essay involved. Personally, I think they did a great job

Question

So, who approached whom? Did they just randomly contact you or did you hear they were looking for people?

i think i remember this. there was a post somewhere, and it said to kinda tell your story as to why you would be good for the disciple team. then they selected their group.

We were invited to write essays (250 words or less) explaining why we thought we would be a good "fit" for a Camaro Enthusiast Focus Group. IIRC the brand team evaluated all the essays and picked a group that covered all the demographic bases.

My angle was that as an owner of a heavily modified autocross/HPDE 1LE and a full load SS convertible "road trip" car they would get two sets of opinions for the price of one.

Apparently, they didn't like my 250 word essay...

The Calling of the First Disciples
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
Then they hopped in a camaro & drove off.

For the next meeting of new disciples, where can I send my essay? I don't remember this being advertised last time?!

it was advertised some time in 2005 if I recall correctly. I seriously doubt there will be any new Camaro Disciples for a long time.

Now if there is an opening for Impala/Large Chevy sedan Disciples, count me in!

That is correct, and they got absolutely flooded with essays. They were only supposed to pick 12, but they pushed to get 3 more which is why we are referring to as the 12 Disciples of which there are 15.

I'll have to dig up my essay if I can find it. It was tough to pack so much into so few words bit I think I mentioned leaning to drive a stick on a 1985 Camaro, me and my dad's 1967 Camaro project that we built and he raced for quite a few years, the 1987 IROC-Z that I took my girlfriend out on dates in, and my 1996 Camaro SS and my 2002 Camaro SS.

actually - we chose 12 with 3 alternates - (in case someone could not serve ...) We felt bad for the alternates -- so we invited them anyway --

Thus "The twelve disciples of which there are 15...."

It was very tough choosing them -- most had very compelling reasons (in 250 words!) -- and we tried to capture:

>Male/Female balance
>age balance
>Geographic balance including provinces of Canada
>4 generations of Camaro balance
>Firebird voice
>Corvette voice

......plus a whole buncha other stuff.......
