How many have deposits/on list?

By the way, how many of you either have a deposit or are on the list officially at your dealer? I sold my 35th LE this last Spring and have been missing it, so I picked up an AWD Silverstone LT TrailBlazer SS to drive during the winter. Worth every penny if anyone is considering! Thing hooks up quick and is gone for a bigger SUV. People are knocking it, but you need to drive it before you say anything.

How are you going to put a deposit down on a car that GM hasn't actually said its going to build yet?

I don't have a deposit put down, but I do have a saving account with a few thousand in it, been putting a little bit of extra cash in there for the past few years every chance I've gotten. It's for a new car, was gonna save up for a used Vette, but I have a new thing to save up for!

Most dealers won't accept deposits. I just want to see if anyone has yet, as some of us are on the list. Just wanted to see who's actually told their sales guys "I want the 1st"!

dont know why dealers would even start a list yet, they could still not build it, and even if the do, its at least 18 months out, they wont have any ordering info for at least a year, probably longer

Seriously, I'm just trying to gauge how serious people are getting. Dealers were taking Z06 names back in early 04 when the car wasn't even released or for sure yet either. Ask some of the guys over at the Vette forums when they started this process. It's not that far fetched to start talking about now.

Everyone can send their deposits directly to me. I'll put them in a 5.00% CD in my name for safe keeping.

If you are asking who has deposits on or on some list for the 2009 Camaro, I feel you have most certainly earned, most certainly deserve, and must be awarded you the "Stupidest New Thread Award for 2005".

This would be awarded for the following reasons:

1. The car isn't even out in concept form yet.
2. No one in the public has seen the car yet.
3. The car hasn't even been finally approved yet.
4. No one I know (even inside of GM) has sat inside the thing yet (outside of the concept).
5. Only a complete Assclown would go to a dealer and drop off a bag of money for something that he doesn't even know when it will be out, what it will look like in the final state, and what it will cost.
6. Only someone far worse than an assclown would do this for a car like Camaro. We aren't talking about an F40, a Ford GT, or some other exclusive, limited production, sure to appriciate in value automobile.
7. And finallly..... because I simply can't think of any other thread I've read in the past 12 months more deserving.

BUT, if you are asking who has a depositr on or is on the list for the next Silverado (which should be out within 6-8 months) or the next Trailblazer (due next model year I believe), I believe there are dealers actually taking deposits on them (authorized by GM I suspect), and there would be nothing out of the ordinary.

I SINCERLY hope you mean the latter and not the former.

I guarantee you that we'll know here the date when any new Camaros can begin to be ordered long before most dealers do.

Well, I can post that I put my name on the list back in 1980 to get my 1989 Thunderbird SC, but that doesn't mean I did it.

Dealers aren't authorized to take deposits before a model or production are announced, but JasonE can add more to this. There may be some dealers willing to take deposits on an extremely low production car that will have a high initial demand within a year or so of production, but asking who's doing this on a unseen, unapproved, years from production, relatively high volume car stretches imagination just a weee bit.

Re: How many have deposits/on list?

If this is the kind of response I get for asking who is "really" interested in the car I guess I'm in the wrong forum. All I wanted to know is who's on their dealer's list regardless, money or just a name. I won't put cash down like this, but there are those who will. GM may scorn the taking of deposits, but it has and is happening, bet on it. They (dealers) did it w/the Z06 and I'd bet money somebody somewhere is taking an SS Vette (which has no specs, nor an official release date) deposit since the info floating on the Vette boards. I have no problem with a little criticism, but this is just blasphemous. I come on here for info from prospective owners like myself, car tidbits, and Scott and other insiders' words, not to be chastised for the same questions that may seem as outlandish as "what color are you ordering?" I was excited since the death in '02 to see something good happening, so I put my name on my dealer friend's list for #1 Camaro when I picked up my TBSS. Anyone else feel and do the same is the only question? Sorry for the rant.

Re: How many have deposits/on list?

Im not even gonna be part of the madness of trying to buy a Camaro right when it comes out . "IF" I like it enuff to buy , I will special order one and patiently wait until it gets here . I could give a crap about having the first one in town , the insane people that pay double for one get that honor , lol

My 94 z will be done long before the new Camaro comes out , and it WILL keep a big *** smile on my face . Even if it cam out early , the lease on my SS isnt up till early 09 ....so Im stuck till then anyways .
