i understand that. but the traction could have been too good. i think around this time now and late fall we will see some very impressive numbers from these cars. the air is cool and the ground is ,somewhat warm.

I was wishing to see better numbers from the new Camaro. When it was completely stock my 2000 Z28 ran 12.96 @ 109 at the track ....

Ummmm... I don't think anybody leaves it in 6th (or 5th, for the Mustang) for highway roll races.

Just read the article. It's starting to seem like nobody can get the details right when reviewing this car. They listed the LS3's horsepower as 422 (and then later as the correct 426), and the torque as 400.

In my experience, there is no such thing as traction being "too good"....especially for a street car on street tires.

I think that was a typo. I think he meant to type "couldn't have been too good".

Very good numbers. Good to see a 12 sec ET. The speed is great but I don't think it's the same as how a trap speed is measured at a drag strip, last 60ft. Still the conditions helped and that car made a lot of power.

Ok. 12.9 @ 113 mph isn't too bad of a ET/MPH package on *true street tires*, but no doubt the power is there to go significantly quicker with nothing more than just traction.

I agree.

I think the win light is what really matters at the strip, right?

slicks and new gearing would make this an amazing run.

Win light is certainly what counts.

I don't want to beat the dead horse anymore, but while slicks would certainly do wonders for the car, this is where the weight would scare me on the stock driveline components (especially the rear and the tranny). Assuming it all held up, slicks and gears with the right driver at a good track in good air might be enough to run an 11.99 with nothing else done to the car. But you need both sticky tires AND gear to get that kind of ET out of a 113-ish mph pass.
